Ok guys for those who are stuck with 2 boot selections now just log into windows and do the following: start run msconfig. click on the boot tab and you will see two entries. one say windows 10 (C:\windows) and the other says setup. just delete the setup one and reboot. Thanks to Karlo Romic for pointing this out.
Thanks for the vid! I too had this issue and figured to delete the Windows setup option...BUT...the Blue Boot Selection Screen (aka Windows Advanced Startup) keeps coming back!! To get by I've set the default time out to 3 second to speed up the process of turning the computer on. So how would I - 1) get rid of this annoyance for good and 2) avoid this problem in the first place should I do another clean install from the HDD?
Man, I just want to say thank you. Thank you so much! I've been trying to clean install windows on my laptop for 3 days. This is my first time doing this kind of thing and had encountered errors like orange screen with white stripes to drive drivers not found, and even an endless loop of install now screen. These are the problems I had to deal with with a bootable usb. I've tried making it with the official windows creation tool and rufus many times, and it only gave me problems. Thank you so much man! You're a life saver! Seriously, as of writing this comment, it's our second day of midterm exams and I'm happy and relieved that I can use my laptop again 😭❤️
When I follow these steps, I get a message after the boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 e: step: "Could not map drive partitions to the associated volume device objects: Access is denied." Please help!
as someone below said, you just saved my day ! I was fighting since last night not understanding why the drive I made was not bootable.... now I finally got Win 10 installing. God bless you man :)
So simple, so effective! Thank you so much, I was stuck with a dvd drive that isn't working properly ( so couldn't boot via CD)and a BIOS that wasn't giving legacy options for me to install windows via USB. Thank you!
Steps Install Windows directly from the Hard Drive - No CD/DVD/USB Needed Need two computer. Need to remove the HDD from Computer #2 and put in Computer #1. Computer #1 to prepare and copy file from the Mount ISO to Computer #2 HDD. On Computer #1 1-Download from Microsoft Windows 10. MediaCreationTool1809.exe 2-Mount Windows 10.iso 3-Format the HDD (e.g. Disk G:) where you want started Windows 10 Installation. 4-Copy \boot, \sources, folders and boormgr file from Mount ISO to the HDD. 5-Start / CMD / Right Click and Run as Administrator 6-Type "Diskpart" 7-Type "list disk" 8-Choose the HDD where you want boot with Windows 10 Installation (e.g. Disk 2) 9-Type "select disk 2" 10-Type "list partition" (normally just one partition on the HDD) (so e.g. Partition 1 is show). 11-Type "select partition 1" 12-Type "active" 13-Type "exit" leaving Diskpart. 14-Type "G:\>boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 g: 15-Must read "Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes." 16-Type "exit" to close the command prompt. 17-Shut down the Computer #1. On Computer #2 18-Replace the HDD to the Computer #2. 19-Set the BIOS to boot from to this HDD. 20-Boot 21-Windows 10 will begin the installation.
There should only be one partition. It's giving me two partitions reserved and primary. I've tried to format and clean using CMD but not still showing two partitions. Please help
I had a Dell laptop with a failed hard disk. The BIOS was locked so I couldn't change the boot settings to install Windows 10 on the new drive. Your method got around the problem... with the added advantage of a much faster install. A big, big thankyou from Mr Lawrence Computing (BURY, UK)
I'm really happy you found a way around your problem and that i was able to help. please do remember though to remove the setup choice after installation by going into msconfig. And also remember to subscribe for more!
@@BTECHITSolutions Hello, many years later, but maybe you can answer.... What you need to remove? is this applies for everyone or just this mister who had locked bios?
@@mindexas123456 that's everyone if you don't wanna be annoyed by the setup choice on every bootup. check the pinned comment on the how-to just please dont use these methods if you're on GPT / EUFI system. This is designed for MBR / BIOS machines.
Honestly thank you so much. I’m 16 years old and have never done this before. I was trying to get my old pc running with windows 10 so I can give it to my friend who doesn’t have a computer at all and this saved my life
What do I do if I have formatted the drive yet it shows 4 partitions when I type list partitions in the command prompt. I’ve tried formatting it again but same thing. The partitions are as follows, Partition # type size offset 1. System 260mb 1024kb 2 Reserved 128mb 261mb 3. Primary 930gb 389mb 4. Recovery 500mb 931gb
If anyone has trouble with executing the bootsect, just do /bootsect nt60 (driveLetter):. I was getting an error saying "boot is not an executable operation or file" when I did /boot/bootsect.exe nt60 D:. Did just /bootsect nt60 D:, and it worked for my D drive.
I get the following when following your steps: boot is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. What am I missing?
Hey bro, now how do I delete the partition which I crated to store the installation files? now windows doesn't let me delete those as it identifies that as system drive
I saw this video a few minutes ago, and I can tell you that saved my day. I already installed the windows in another hard drive. Thanks a lot :D. The video is great ^_^
i didnt get the update ntfs filesystem code , what can i do , " target volume will be updated with bootmgr compatable bootcode could not map drive partition to the associated volume device objects" this is what i got
Okay, I am trying to figure out what I did wrong. I was able to put Windows 7 on a laptop using your method, and it worked fine. The only thing was I had to manually select the correct file to boot from in the UEFI options in BIOS setup, but it installed itself successfully afterwards. When I tried it with Windows 10 Pro, it showed the Windows 10 logo right away and appeared to be starting Windows Setup, but there was no option to install Windows, and I ended up stuck with a 'No OS found' blue screen error message that it would go back to every time I rebooted. Also, attempting to manually select the boot file didn't work, no matter which file I selected. Did I miss a file that needed to be copied to the HD? Could it be because I'm using an OEM Windows 10 Pro disc (it IS the one that came with the computer, but the computer has no optical drive to put it in)?
Hello, greetings from Brazil. I'm very glad to have found your video, it was so useful that I can't put into words, during the last 3 days I was struggling with the installation without getting success, besides your method was the only one that worked and fortunately solved my problem, thank you very much!!!
nope, it used to be listed, and people would still not get it right, so I pulled it, now you have to go through the vid step-by-step. this in result lessened the amount of its not working queries. and finally..... I just like helping people, I don't care for fame.
Bruh...you just saved my sanity. I was trying all day to create a bootable USB drive for my new SSD on an older motherboard with no success. Then I found this video and created a bootable SSD using the PC. SANITY SAVED, AND THE WIFE IS HAPPY, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
it means you're running a 32 bit OS and the ISO image you have is 64-bit. you'll need to download a 32 bit iso. (or vice versa you have a 64 bit and the iso is 32 bit)
Broooo, I swear, you saved me tons of times figuring out how to install new os! I love you maaaaan. Super thank you for existing on out lovely planet! May God give you more time on earth to help more people!
Thank you! I was trying to install Windows 10 on a new computer using a USB stick since yesterday, but got stopped by the error "A media driver is missing". Installing directly from the hard drive just did the trick!
>This version of E:\boot\bootsect.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information and then contact the software publisher.
Bootsect exe didn't work for me but after restart it booted ok from drive great job m8 I was struggling with Rufus for hours after watching this vid sorted in 10 minutes oh and my windows installed firat stage in 6 minutes wow 🤯🥳 (on msata ssd)
Hi Boss, I followed all & all is done at e:. While I'm typing nt60 then showing "the .exe is not recognized as an internal or external command. Operable program on batch file. What should i do pls let me know dear??
Didn' t work for me. I have 2 internal drives. OS files are on the 2nd partition of the 2nd drive. Boot override simply doesn't work. Followed steps to thr letter and yes i got the partition drive letters correct. Im using GPT file system Edit: Got it working. Simply copy all files instead just the 2 folders and 1 file. Then boot from the new partition. Worked 🙂
I have a problem with my device I used a lot of programs to burn the systems on flash and I activated all the required numbers and my device does not benefit on windows in flash
@@BTECHITSolutions The problem is that if I put the flash in another computer it will take off to the windows installation process but if you try putting the flash in my device it will appear a sign -
Thanks for the video, and the accent! If you first format an external drive to MBR. Use rufus to 'burn' your .iso (only if MBR type drive is it visible) faster and simpler. to prevent viri infections, don't forget to search for software using it's keyword (in this case 'Rufus') and then the word 'wiki' , read the wikipedia page and find the official website (usually linked bottom right). Never just search for a software name and download! Craig
Very helpful, thanks. I was having trouble installing Win 7 from a USB drive set up with Rufus onto a Pentium 4 and an old IDE drive. This worked a treat, but I did change the drive to a SATA one in the end.
Note you just need a ntfs sata drive, nothing about doing this needs to involve formatting a drive, the win 10 installer does not care if there are other folders and files on that sata drive, so just copy the files to ANY ntfs sata disk you might allready have plugged in, and follow the instrutions that make it bootable in this video, all the files are there after its done installing win 10. how do i know? because just did it, was wondering if it needed a clean drive, and it totally did not. annoyingly the diskpart program does not show the volume label, so you need to pick the right disk just by looking at the size. Also shows drives that definitely have free space as having 0 space, makes you doubt yourself on selection.
hello sir i followed your instructions till 1:21 but i have only Disk 0 online and Disk 1 online...here what looks like myalbum.com/album/kQ4B6KxpWMSZ im using laptop/ windows 10...i wanted to creat and install windows 10 to external SSD drive (this ssd drive is connected thru usb to my laptop) my old laptop windows 7 internal ssd drive is broken so i wanted to install this new ssd ...could you please help me
This works great! After you finish the command prompt stuff, but before you use the drive to do an install, you can make an image of the drive. I used Ghost to store an image on my workbench PC. The next time you want to do an install, just Ghost that image back on to your new drive and it's ready to use, no need for the command prompt partition stuff. You can also copy a folder of drivers and other programs you might need after the install onto the HDD at this time. They won't interfere with the install. It's nice to have them ready in one place, rather than trying to find and transfer them all later.
just bought a portable ssd to do this because the pricing is so good now seeing flash drives still limited to 100mb/s no matter how new the flash drive made this method for more sensible since the speeds are over 4 times as fast and the fact that ssds have more memory cache than flash drives this makes portable ssds (which are barely bigger than flash drives) far better os installation devices through any usb 3.0 ports
When I type active it's showing "the selected disk is not a fixed MBR disk" "The active command only be used on fixed MBR disks" Can you please tell me what to do?

Thank you so much bro because of you I installed Successfully, I was trying to install os from above 5 months but when I saw your video I was successful to install it thank you so much
Pardon my Eng. But i've to say something. Very useful for old ancient PC/laptop. I was pulling my hair out, using USB installer somewhat cannot/keep rebooting problematic. Using DVD installer much more painful. With this trick, BAM! Success! Oh, and take note for instruction delete the setup one of 2 boot selections, u'll see when done/reboot the PC. Better gathered n put my hair back. Thank you kindly for 'not typing on notepad kind of video crap' but crystal clear video instruction sir!
I'm sure you solved it but I'm responding for anyone else who's curious. You need to set it up as an MBR. Delete the drive and reformat it as an MBR and it will have only one partition which will allow you to finish the process.
thank worked great i was trying on a hp pavilion 15 notebook pc it seems to erase usb drivers i had to disconect the hard drive 3 times first for the instalation then to install driver booster make a backup of the drivers needed then use another computer to get the pack of drivers and then install them since the usb where npt working
That's what i'm talking about that why he is the goat the goat seriously thanks i was stuck for 6 hours now trying to install a legacy windows on a uefi system without usb thanks you 👍🙏
I don't know what to say. I was trying to install windows 7 on an older machine after adding a new SSD disk, and nothing was working. Tried installing it via DVD, the setup needed at least 10 minutes to start up and after it simply stopped on "Expanding Windows Files". Installing via USB was not an option either, as it didn't even start up. I did everything you did in this video, and guess what, Windows 7 is up and running. It took a total of 5 minutes to install and configure. Thank you so much for this video! Subscribed to you :) Cheers.
Can someone help, please? Everything went well, except for when I typed "boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 e:". I then get the message "This tool can only be run on systems booted using a PC/AT BIOS. This system was booted using EFI or some other firmware type." Using HP 8300 SFF PC, i5 3.2GHz, 16Gb RAM, 2x1Tb HDD. Thanks!
i was actually working on a workaround on this today. but until i fully test( another 24 hours or so) the main point it of it is, this doesn't work when you are running a UEFI bios. only works on legacy bios. the only thing you can ty is going to the bios itself and turning on CSM (compatibility mode) and giving it another shot.
Dude you’re video seems to be working for everyone else but it’s coming up when doing “active” it says “the selected disk is not fixed MBR disk The active command can only be used on fixed MBR disks”? Any ideas bro?
My harddrive doesn't show up as a bootable device in bios.. I have converted the drive from GPT to MBR as the "active" command did not work on GPT. I have tried disabling UEFI and running legacy BIOS, Updating the bootcode in commandpromt was done successfully as well. as this was the 4'th time formatting the drive and starting over, i am out of ideas as to how to make this work. Could someone please help me
wow, nice detail there, must say i'm impressed as most people have no idea what they're on about. what board do you have in? and if possible could you please send me the two screenshots of the active and bootcode command results to badgertechnologies@gmail.com and i'll quickly try and help you.
Hi, i encounter a problem and it is the following: when i write the active command it answers: "The selected disk is not a fixed MBR disk." and "The ACTIVE command can only be used on fixed MBR disks.", i wrote the commnad convert MBR but it says "the specific disk cant be converted". The motherboard i have is a Gigabyte aourus 5. thanks
you'll need something like easeus to convert it to MBR. lots of times the system disk also cannot be converted, in that case this method will not be able to work for you.
It does work omggg your frickin genius bro, i wanna say thank you very much for your effort making this video and help other user to install windows onto their drive. !!!!💯💯💯👍🏻👍🏻🔥
