We'll go over how to divert your filter water stream from the regular faucet water as well as do all of the hookups. This install is for the Waterdrop 15UA Filter, however the principle works for most under sink filtration systems. The hoses that come with the kit are designed for 3/8" connections, so depending on your case you may need an additional adapter.
We paired the Waterdrop filter with a 3-way faucet which has a dedicated filtered water tap. This way we extend our filter life by only filtering water we want to drink, and don't have to drill any extra holes in the countertop. This setup is great for removing chlorine, lead, bacteria, or other contaminants from your water supply.

No problem. I thought it was strange that we needed the extra adapter as well. Best of luck!

Thanks for the video. By mistake i removed the 2 blue little adapters on the filter head (where the cables goes in/out). Do you know any online store that sells a compatible replacement?

Thanks so much for the very informative video. i live in a place where there is so much limescale .. does this resolve this problem ?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects 10 месяцев назад
Hi. According to their website: "Waterdrop under sink water filter uses innovative five-stage filtration to effectively reduce chlorine, heavy metals like mercury, and other chemical contaminants. It also filters out sediment and other large particles, thereby preventing scale buildup." Lots of limescale might reduce filter life, so maybe a water softener could help.

Could you elaborate on why this isnt appropriate for well water? I just bought this for a home with well water and I believe I may need to return it now.
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects Год назад
Hi there. It looks like well water may be prone to having sediment and high mineral content which can drastically shorten the lifespan of the under sink filter. You can test your water to see if that is an issue, and if so install a whole house filter to capture the sediment. www.waterdropfilter.com/collections/single-stage-undersink-filtration-systems/products/under-sink-water-filter-direct-connect-filtration-system See FAQ section.

You can use it for well water. I have well water and have this filter, but the well water is filtered before this unit at the point of entry into the house. I have a 2 stage whole house unit with a spin down sediment pre filter at the point of entry. The water is filtered by the 50 micron spin down, then a 25 to 1 micron dual gradient sediment filter, then a carbon block filter for good measure.

If I buy this one waterdrop 15 with a separate faucet- do you know if I have to use the faucet? I’m undecided about if I want my drinking water out of the regular faucet or separate. I would just use the soap dispenser hole but more worried about the look of two faucets. Thanks
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects 2 года назад
I'm not sure what attachment features come with that kit. My guess is that you could make it work, but may have to buy an extra adapter or two. We also wanted to avoid the look of two separate faucets. Good Luck!

Personally, I would just attach the filter to your main faucet. I know people will say that has lead in it which is why they use a stand alone faucet. The amount of lead in the normal faucet is so small that is not even funny. Now, the amount of lead acquired by the water traveling through miles of city pipe to get to your house is a different story. They make models that come without the faucet. I installed a 3 different Waterdrop setups in my house, and I connected all of straight to my faucets. I like that all of my drinking and cooking water runs through that filter system. In my two bathrooms, I do not have room for the second faucet. I just installed my filters about a week ago. I am very happy with them so far.

Dont you have to turn the cold water off when you replace the filter? I thought I heard that
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects 5 месяцев назад
This one auto-seals so you don't have to shut off the water. It doesn't hurt since the valve is right there. It will drip a little bit regardless.
@kylehallman8183

So you definitely need the right type of faucet to take advantage of this?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects Год назад
The instructions suggest running it through the cold water line. We chose to use a separate filtered water line so that we wouldn't sacrifice pressure on the main faucet, and to extend the life of the filter. You can buy a small dedicated faucet to pass through the soap dispenser hole in your countertop as well.

What size are the adapters used here?

Hey there, standard water lines in the USA are 3/8", and my faucet for some reason had a 1/2" male thread. I used the 1/2" female to 3/8" male adapter that came with the kit as well as a 3/8" female to 3/8" female adapter that I purchased separately.

What size are those adapters? I was all set to install this today then noticed the same problem as you. So, after a quick Google search I found your video and went to the stores looking for them. Could only find 1/4” x 1/4”.. it didn’t work 😅

How do you like your filter after using it for awhile?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects 2 года назад
So far so good. The water pressure is solid and there is no taste. We only use a gallon or two per day, so it should take years before we exhaust the filter life.

@@practicalhomeprojects Thanks for getting back to me. Your video helped show me how to do the installation. I just installed a few of their filter systems in my house. I got a TSA-3 filter system for my kitchen. I ordered the smallest ultra filtration filter for one of my bathrooms. I ordered a single stainless steel filter for my bathroom with a pedestal sink. I installed them all to my original faucets. I also noticed the filter system in my kitchen (3 filter model) had the same filter attachment system as my ultra filtration model in my one bathroom. I ordered a larger filter for my bathroom and swapped out the .5 micron filter in my kitchen for the .01 filter from my bathroom. It fits the system, and the filters are the same exact size. My house has crazy high water pressure which is why I can get away with that change. I like all my filters so far.

Can this filter be used to go to the frig ?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects Год назад
You can add a T-adapter after the filter and connect your fridge line to that. Depending on your model of fridge, you may be able to get a filter bypass which plugs into the filter connection and just allows water to flow through.

What about single line faucets? Will all the water come out filtered?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects 3 месяца назад
The typical install would be for the cold water line to be filtered at all times. I ran the diverter to a second tap to increase the lifespan of the filter and avoid the reduced pressure on the main cold water line.

Is this any good for hard salty water like in Florida?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects 2 года назад
This is not a water softener, and I think that hard water will greatly reduce the lifespan of the filter. For the benefit of your entire house, it's not a bad idea to get a whole house softener. After that, the filter should work great.

Does it filter flouride?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects 6 дней назад
Hello. Good question. I was digging through the website and it doesn't mention fluoride. Other sources say that fluoride is extremely difficult to filter and usually requires reverse osmosis, so this filter probably doesn't reduce fluoride.

What if u have a ice maker line?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects Год назад
If you use the T-adapter after the filter, you can also run an ice maker line through the water filter. You may need to purchase a "blank" filter to go into your freezer, so you aren't filtering twice.
@chasingthedragontail8760
@chasingthedragontail8760 Год назад
Thanks I figured it out. Now the water pressure has dropped significantly after this has been installed, is that normal?
@practicalhomeprojects
@practicalhomeprojects Год назад
It shouldn't be noticeable for the ice maker line. For your main cold water faucet, there will be a pressure drop for sure.
