Today In our 2016 Nissan Rogue we're going to show you how to install the tow ready T1 vehicle wiring harness with the 4-pole flat trailer connector. Part number is 118480. Here's what your wiring kits going to look like once you pull it out of the package. Youre going to have the heart of the system right here. This is our module light. Thats going to take the signal from our vehicle and convert it into a usable signal for our trailer or cargo carrier through our 4-pole connector. See it's got the protective cap on it; keep it out of the elements.
The yellow and brown wires are going to run to the T connector, so thats going to go right in between our factory connection behind the driver side taillight; the green and reds going to go over behind the passenger side taillight. To power the box so we're not drawing any power from the lighting system itself we're going to run a 12-volt wire up to the battery thatll get connected through our black wire. You're going have the fuse holder, fuse and everything that you'll need to make this connection happen. The white wire, that's the ground wire. We're going to use the self-tapping screw or an RB 00:01:02} existing stud on the vehicle and well get that secure to a metal surface. We're going to start by removing our floor coverings in here and anything else that might be in our compartment.
We're going to pull our little panels out of each side. Now, we want to come right inside this rear scuff panel and there's going to be a push pin fastener on each side that well take out. Well also take the little cap right here underneath the striker area. Well tip this up and out of the way a little bit. Well be able to get our hand underneath the rear panel.
We just want to gently pry up on it. We're going to set that aside. Well pop the covers off of our little cargo hooks here and well pull that bolt out that's right there in the middle. Then, we just need a 10mm socket. Now, let's work the side panel out and that should give us enough room to get right into the back side of our taillight to our taillight connector. We want to push down the small tab that's on the bottom side of our plug here then pull to separate.
Well go do the same thing over for our driver side. We're going to take the red and green end of our T connector and we're going to slide it right underneath that panel so we can reach down in behind here and grab it. Well plug our factory harness right into our T connector. We want to hear that tab come up and click. You should be able to push and pull without it separating. Then, we can take the other end and slide it right into the other side of the factory connector. We can just bring our panel over and get it clicked into position. You want to pull out that weather-stripping to make sure it's sitting on top. Then, we can replace our hook. Well go just above our tailpipe here. Right in the floor of the vehicle there's going to be an oblong hole that's got a black foam sticker over the top of it. What well do is take our wire. We just want to poke that right up through the floor, just get enough of it up there where we can get a hold of it. What well do is well take the end of that wire, we're going to strip it back, give that a twist and well do the same to the red wire coming out of our module light. We can take a provided butt connector and slide it on there, get it crimped down. Well feed into the other side the black wire that we ran up from under the vehicle. This is going to be inside the car, so it's not a big concern, but a little electrical tape will always help to protect it. Well take our module light box and well slide it right over into that opening behind the side panel. We can reach in and grab it. Well feed through our yellow and white wire there, also our ground wire. Now, we can make our driver side connections here. If we look just underneath that plug here on the drivers side there's going to be a ground screw right here. Were going to go ahead and back that off and attach our white wire, slide our ring terminal from the white wire right onto the bolt behind our other grounds and well put it right back in its original location. We're going to clean off the back or our module box with a little bit of alcohol. We can add our double-sided foam tape to it. Put it pretty close to the bottom. There's going to be a little gap in the metal that we're putting it on right here, but we're going to have a zip-tie on top. We're going to take one of our zip-ties and stick it through there like that. You can see a hole right back here on this flat piece of metal. We're going to clean off just below
