When putting the cable in is easier to go top to bottom. Plus, test it all before putting all back together just in case it doesn’t work pain in the ass taking it all to part again.
Good video. It's more like a 30-45 minute job when doing it the first time. Just to note, it's not needed to remove that carbon fibre trim below the head unit. You only need to move the front part of the centre console up slightly to remove gear gaitor. And like someone else mentioned, work the wires from top to bottom as it's a lot easier, threading from behind the glove box which saves you from removing that. Nevertheless, Mazda wanted £240 on labour to fit this, and this video helped me save that money! Lol.
Hi Thank you for comment and you mention that carbon fibre trim no need to remove yes you correct, but I removing it no scratches or any damage, if you scratched that too expensive to replaced that part.it’s ok you working on your own car but if you working with someone car. You have to do properly and nice and neat job.
I just did it today. I took the lower side panel out and I was not very kind to the old module with a flat head and needle nose plier, after all, that is junk anyway. I used a wire guide from top to bottom and then hooked the wires with a wire hanger shaped into a hook right out where the new module was going to be. Quick and efficient. Only removed the side panel by the accelerator, I did not have to do all that (really took 20 minutes) and my CX-3 is just fine now. Oh and aside from the little sponge stickers I used a zip tie on the two cables so that gravity would pull them down together then I hooked them and pulled them out the hole for the new module. Oh and yes secured with zip ties and the anti-noise padding supplied.
THIS IS THE REAL TUTORIAL! Done it on mine in 90 minutes circa. I had a bit of issues with the cd player (mine came with that above the mzd unit) which does not fit fine with the two new cables. I think I am going to remove the cd player which I never used it and put a mask or a pocket to fill the hole. Luckily I did not need to do a software upgrade and the car engine started correctly after the upgrade (LOL) Now I wonder? Is the MZD disconnected from the car engine? If the replaced CarPlay unit turns to be junk or faulty, does the car work without it? (I think so but I'd like to hear other opinions)
Thank you very much, I have changed the radio by just watching your video 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 for anyone still want to do it. The way I changed it for Mazda 2,scion IA 2016. 1. You don't need to remove the glove box, just open it and from top of your car screen(after you opened it like the video) slide the cable to the glove box. Once you slide it, it is easier to send it to the new radio. 2. I only removed the radio like the video and didn't remove the shift cover or the one he pulled, just remove the rim around it. Since it is necessary to remove the radio to change it. And it is hard to remove the screw just with screw driver when you remove the unit(the screen part) I used the screw gun. Basically the point is. Remove the radio, remove the unit(where the screen is) and just plug the cables. You don't need to remove parts around the home button or mute.... And I bought the android auto from amazon for $59. And don't forget to tie the cables together, or they will send you a thing to tie it when you buy the radio. And after you plug, before you put it in, I suggest you try if it works, just to not waste time if it is not compatible. You will see the android auto and carplay greyed out. If you try with wrong cable it may not work, it didn't work at first but when I try with another cable it worked. It isn't hard, but ofc you can be nervous if you have no clue but decide to try it just to not pay around $300 for dealers. Good luck, and if you have any question, ask me, I will answer.
I will try it in the upcoming days on my M2 2016 dj 115, i’ve bought the unit off amazon for wired apple carplay (80€), i updated the firmware today to make it compatible, i’ll write again when i get the thing if i need help, thx for the offer!!
@Maririo93 before you change anything, be aware that the sd card may not work anymore. Mine stopped working, probably it can be because I didn't follow the unit guideline, not sure.
Hi this is a very useful and clear video. Would you be able to show how to connect an aftermarket reverse camera to the Mazda 2 2015 model. Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I did some research and apperantly Android Auto just doesnt work with touchscreen in Mazdas. Something to do with the disabling of the touchscreen while driving...
I read that touch doesn't work on android auto on mazda. I also changed it and it doesn't work. And i heard in one video review of android auto. It doesn't work. But if you goto home, the touch works. It is just mazda thing in my opinion.
Hi Roshan, I have a 2019 Toyota Yaris with exact same radio. How do I buy the correct parts here in the US? Can you tell me the name of the parts you bought? Maybe EBay? Thank you! Great video!
I was able to achieve this on my Mazda 2 DJ (2017 model) routed the cables through the glove box and underneath the side panels, it was my first time doing it and it was difficult but I was able to get it working 😅
Hi! I own a 2016 Mazda 2 and I would like to upgrade by putting an aftermarket radio and speakers. Could that be possible??? Every autosound shop I have visited have told me that there are no aftermarket radio for it😕. One of the problems I have with the original sound system is that sometimes, one speaker sounds way too low. It may be a cable contact ? 🤷♂️
Thank you for the video guide. I was finally able to install apple carplay with no issues so far. Only thing is my touch screen is not working for some reason
Hi @Roshan T Automotives.... I'm hoping someone out there who knows a lot more than me about this can help. I'm contemplating retrofitting my 2018 Toyota Yaris iA with a software update and usb unit that would allow me to use Apple Carplay and Android Auto with the existing screen. The 2018 Yaris iA is actually a rebranded Mazda 2. So, can this video be applied to a toyota? Is that right?
@@keninho1735 Hey! I have a 2019 iA. What part did you use for your car? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. The part number in this video is from Mazda and I’m afraid it might show Mazda logos in my car. Any info is welcomed. Thanks! -AC
Hello, I have a yaris IA 2017 and the radio not working. It repeats the start car logo on the screen. What can I do with it? How can I fix it? I cannot change channels only the volume buttons work, nothing else. Pls help
I jyst got a mazda 2 2015 plate and cds wont seem to go in in says label up and it won't go in I put them in upside down and they go in and eject obviously cus they are upside down wot am I doing wrong? Is it knackered
Great video. I have a (2014)Mazda 3 I am looking at trading in, I was wondering if I take out the apple car play module and replace it into my wife’s (2015)Mazda 2 are they both compatible with each other? Including the oem module to replace back into my car? Thanks.
This unit only upgrade features not functional change I mean if replaced head unit you need to replaced steering connection and all wiring, all functions work as normal.
I just purchased the new Mazda console for my 2017 cx3 thinking I was capable, but this is horrifying! Definitely going to pay for the service now. Thanks for posting!
It doesn't help that the location of the radio is on top of the dash. Most cars don't require you to remove the entire centre console, trim and glovebox just to do this lol.
@@vindiroshan my reply wasn't for you, ofc you can do it, you even upload tutorial for us. 😅 Just replying for the other guy. Since you replied though, from what I am seeing, I don't have to remove the stuffs on the shift, and under the screen. And only thing that worries me is if I can really get the wire through(inside).
@@vindiroshan he said that he is interested in your work and that he would like to know where to get the android radio so he could do the same to his car
Yes mate this genuine install all functions working fine this unit only for apple car play we not replace head unit if you remove head unit yes you need steering wheel plug.
Thanks so much for your video! Going to give this a try. Could you please send the link for Australian software update? I've subscribed to your channel. Thank you.
Greetings, it can be connected to yaris 2019, the car is Mazda, the bodywork and the radio, everything is also Mazda, thank you, I await your response.
