these channels help me out so much. not having a father in my life to teach me these things. now that im an adult i want to do these things and have no idea how.
Thank you for this video. Patio had paver work done recently and saw person laying the pavers while standing on the sand he just leveled and screeded then going over it with trowel again. This video helped me understand proper way it is done. Of course final work resulted in uneven pavers and a lot trip hazard. After a few back and forth, company finally decided to re-do their work. 👍🏼
I never knew that you can use too much sand under a paver installation. If I ever am faced with laying down pavers, I'll have you to thank for explaining why too much of a good thing is bad. Thanks Stan.
Crazy thing happened lol I'm driving down to the citys. Thinking one of these days I'll pass stan on the freeway. No joke not even 5 mins later theres stans black dodge with a skid steer and trailer!!! That was me in the red chevy truck lol. I'm the guy that lives in finlayson. And grow up in sandstone!! Love your video Stan!!
This is a pretty awesome channel. I don't even do this kind of work. Pros can be proud of their work and share it on social media. This channel has professional advice, pro techniques, and training to build foundations in business as well as personal development. I wish I had a crew like them to learn from when I was young.
Every time I watch a paver patio video of yours I recall the jobs I’ve done that don’t have the right prep done. They definitely will from now on. Thanks for your help!
Wow! Just accidently came across your # 3 Pillars to Happiness and a $150,000 job in 1 month Video! 99% of the time I meet Contractors that have no goals, work from job to job do not really appreciating their clients or give them the best job possible for the product and budget. I work in the San Francisco Bay Area and now work with quality Contractors. I have not taken the C-27 test yet mostly because I am exhausted after a 10 hr. day even though I do not do any physical work I am organized and know all aspects of the jobs and make sure all items are delivered properly on time and on budget. I have 10 years of experience Designing, Selling and Project Managing and have only had 1 unhappy customer and he is unhappy with everyone and everything. It's imperative that you have the right size and knowledgeable crew. Thank you for sharing your present day Morality (and sharing that your past does not have to equal your future) and being the type of person your clients deserve. I hope many people in our industry watch your valuable videos. Thank you for taking the time to be a decent human being and sharing your knowledge and experience. And YES you should make a decent profit from a job well done. Best to you in your future endeavors.
Props on the solid work. Also good to see you worked around the turtle eggs. Every company does things different, it shows character to give nature the right of way.
Stan you have trained your team well. They are very knowledgeable and take great care in all they do. Also they did Mrs. Turtle right by not messing with her eggs.
Enjoyed watching the process of these jobs . Up here well north of you, I like using a foot or more of limestone crusher chips on top of 2' or more crushed rock base when possible . Then a vibrating packer before the paving stones . The walkways are dead nuts flat year after year . I don't do that as a business, just for family . You have a good thing going down there Stan and Co . You would be good people to work with .
Yes Stan, I'm looking forward to seeing the 9' wall also! Can you explain more on the geogrid and where and how much to put in? I worked for a guy and we put in a 5' wall for a septic leach field and was engineered but but not much was explained. I see alot of contractors do the 4' step back and another 4'😖
Would love to see how you guys do this. Always love watching a big job come together. I was with a "landscaping company" and pretty sure it should have been done better. I garuntee if you guys did it, it would have been done quickly and right. It was a beautiful house very custom designed. Would have been nice to work with a crew that knows what they are doing vs 1 person helping me out
Perfect music to start the video. Explaining with great details as to why and how you all do your work is enjoyable. Nice touch on saving the turtle eggs. Another project well done. Yes, I would like to see the bigger projects. The next one sounds cool.
I hope the homeowner is happy. I think that is absolutely stunning! Great job guys! 😍👍 This is very helpful for me. I have those irregular stones for my patio. They are all shifting with weeds popping up. I am going to get a plan together and then try to level it myself next summer. Your videos teach me things I have never learned. I am loving all the knowledge you share. Thank you for everything. I hope you and your family have a safe and blessed weekend. 😊
get a diaphragm sprayer and mix distilled vinegar, heavy salt (like sea salt) & detergent (dawn liquid or the old ajax powder i find the best) and spray your zero-scape or other areas that you do not want growth with a nice heavy dose of that mix early on when the day will be sunny . . . it will end your problem with out killing you and everything with in a quarter mile :)
Hey Stan, I truly enjoy these videos where you break down step by step and the reason each step is required. So glad the "pipe" wasn't punctured, that definitely would have been a very bad day for all. Looking ahead to that 9ft wall backyard, almost sounds like you will be building a waterless dam. Looking forward to the instructional video. God bless you all and go get em!
Great finished project. I learned so much and will put it to use when I install a small 10x10 paver patio myself this fall. Look forward to more job site videos.
It looks good ur crew did a very nice job n in 8hrs ain't bad. I help a friend with renal failure do masonry n we laid a 30x20 broken flagstone patio in 4 days n it had an added walkway similar to ur project. Keep up the good work!!!!
Ur guys always do great work and it shows that snapping turtle was really kool only seen one when I was really young hopefully her eggs were ok looking forward to the next video as always
Loved hearing about the project and the others you’ve posted. I also love hearing the thought process behind how you come up with and implement the options you’re forced to consider as surprises come up. Looking forward to seeing and hearing about the 9 foot wall ! Great job !
This is really fantastic learning material! Your years of experience and knowledge of allowed requirements appears to mesh extremely well in this project. Thanks for taking us along on this one! Nick, North West Farmer
Hey Stan I love the way you help everyone understand the process and how through you are with your videos I watch you channel pretty much daily and if you have any dirt monkey shirts or hats I’d love to buy some to help show my support for you guys
Those walking stones came out to be a great alternative for that application. I really like that idea. There is always a way! That wall does sound daunting, but I am sure Sam and Blaine are up to the challenge.
Great job! Awesome video! This is not my field and I'm learning so much, I like how you explain it and do the job, and workers doing it the right way you taught them. I'm sure if I was going to work in this field I would like to be working for you.
I love the quality of your work. Do it once and it should be good forever. Your music selection is always the best. You keep making them and I will be here to keep watching them and giving you likes. Great job.
Brilliant job once again. So glad you found all the 'lines' when excavating.😨😱👌 - I'm never going to 'install' anything, but shite, the things I learned through watching these vids.👏👏👏🤝
Stanley, awesome build and I wish your team would slide down to Maryland and build me that paver patio and lay a few stones too. Real nice project and I appreciate you taking me along on the build ride! Continued success my northern brother!!
awesome project! I love the use od natural materials like steppers and even the pavers and concrete steps look great. I'm a first year landscape apprentice and while we do thing difrently in Australia (mainly due to the high tempretures and little to no frost) your videos have been a great help. keep them coming
Stan I came across your channel back in April of 2019 when I was doing research on building retaining walls, (I was interviewing a contractor and wanted to make sure the project was going to be built right the first time (9'X54' wall) (Side note: The 2019 project I also had a snapping turtle lay eggs in the piles of dirt that had been removed and unfortunately we didn't know this until the dirt was being moved back, I saved as many eggs as I could find and out of all them I had 2 turtles hatch). I had already planned on making my walkout basement project 3 phases because of the money and labor involved. I also worked sided by side with my contractor and his guys (yes I'm aware most contractors hate this) making it clear to them that I was the lowest seniority guy on the job so I did all the "new guy" grunt work that needed to be done. The contractor also offered me a job after it was all done and I politely declined, (I'm too old to work like that everyday lol). It also makes me appreciate the work put into these projects even more. Last year (2020) I did the wall on the opposite side, and this year (2021) will be the patio done with block similar to this project (I wish I could include pictures). (Anyone who is looking for a great landscape contractor in the Peoria, IL area message me.) My point to this long winded post is I really appreciate your channel and the content you provide, you have given knowledge on subjects that I have little or no knowledge on and products which I have purchased because of your reviews (Ballard Inc. "X-Blades and deck lift which I absolutely love, but that's another long wind post for another time). Keep up the great work, tell your guys I appreciate and respect their hard work too! "God Bless and go get em."
Glad to see Sam back on video! He's such a good, down to earth, kinda guy! You're truly blessed, with such a great crew! Thanks for another great video! P.S. Would be awesome if you could get the turtles emerging from their nest.
I'm definitely interested in that 9 foot retaining wall. While similar to what you guys do a lot it's also a more complicated and bigger project so it's going to be a lot of fun to watch.
The stone steps over the utilities actually made more sense. Matches nicely with the other side. Good solution. P S Your guys did a great job working the turtle problem. Shows professionalism on your crew and respect for the environment.
Great video Stan, I have just started a excavating and lawn care business this year. You and your team were part of the inspiration in me doing so. I love how you explain everything thoroughly. Keep up the awesome work!!
Hi Stan, looking forward to seeing the 9' wall. I originally found your channel when I was researching to build my own wall. Although much smaller it was tough as a professional homeowner. Using your techniques and advice I think it came out great. Three years now and it's straight and square as new. Even though I don't do your type of work for a living your videos have helped me personally and they are always entertaining and informative. The build videos like this one are my favorite. Thanks for you effort on these videos. Shine on!
Hi Stan, Awesome looking finished project. This will be a great patio! I would definitely like to see the complete install of the new 9' wall including each lift as well as all of the logistics of making it happen.
Hi Stanley last time i commented my phone froze lol hope it doesnt this time .just wanted to say i like watching your channel i can watch it all day .i miss your" thats what she said" jokes.wish you guys were in California i would love to watch you guys do your thing here.my dad worked with asphalt paving and i was on a couple jobs with him he passed a couple years ago so i enjoy watching you work all the equipment.btw you remind me of Ryan Reynolds alot your really funny.
