If used for drinking water, do not use a garden hose to fill the bladder unless you like a rubber-like taste. All pipes should be FOOD GRADE, normally a light blue hose similar to what was used. Pre-wash out the bladder with a bleach solution followed by a bi-carb solution rinse. In-line filters both at the inlet side and outlet side should be fitted. You can swap the plastic hose fittings out for brass. There is a brass fitting that seals upon disconnection to avoid drips. After trips away empty the bladder and redo the washing procedure before refilling. Cheers.
Great job. FYI . . . A bit of carpet under the pump will quiet it down a bit. And a cheap water tap at the outlet will help with the dribbles when you disconnect the hose 👍
I think you’re funny as! I could sympathise when the water wouldn’t come out. I was in the same boat trying to work out the joolca shower yesterday and today the drifta bladder! 😅 Had no gas in cylinder 😂 but you’ve made it a lot easier to work out how to use the pump for these things. Thank you! Hope you enjoyed Birdsville big red bash.
Ha ha thanks I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😅 The Bash was great although my son and I were so sick with the flu for the entire first week of the trip 😏 I started to come good day 2 of the bash then my wife got tonsillitis 🤦🏻♂️ Let me know how you go with the Joolca shower and what you think of it ✌🏻
Just what I’m going to try and do!! Does the bladder need an air opening up top or can the other inlet openings all be closed off? I’m thinking like you have to puncture those water drums from the supermarket to get them to pore properly. Same with the bladder? Cheers mick
Yeah they’re a great water bladder, I’ve found it so handy 👌🏻 I have a water fill point that comes from a hose at the top which is high enough for no water to spill out from but also lets the air in. Hope yours works well for you ✌🏻
Thanks mate! With the black hose I ended up just attaching the filler cap and have left it loose just rolled up on top of the bladder. I was going to mount it up higher as a filler point but I’ve found I haven’t needed too and it’s fine as it is and doesn’t leak. Have you bought a Drifter Stockton bladder also?
@@TheBeatenTrak beauty cheers! Yeah thinking of getting one in the back for my Hilux and set up the same system as you’ve got there. Did you have a seperate hose to fill up the bladder or just used the same connection except connected it to a tap to fill it?
Everything you used that bloody flat blade screwdriver to tighten those hose clamps, I sat cringing, waiting for you to put the screwdriver through your hand. Please use an 8mm socket to tighten those in the future mate, so much safer... pump looks like it only pumps at about 1.5L/min! Thats too little mate. Nerd at least a 12L/min pump
