The Boat 40 litre footwell water tank is a universal fit water tank with a cutout for the transmission tunnel its a simple gravity feed tank it puts the weight of the water down low for safer driving off-road
Thanks for the review. Your last comment about the water tasting horrible when using a garden hose to fill it up was interesting. I have been considering buying either a solid or possibly a plastic bladder type for the rear footwell. Taste is one of my main concerns with these tanks so I’m not sure which one would be better in this regard. I was also considering adding a filter in case the container goes a bit mouldy if left for a period of time. Obviously I’d empty it out at the end of trips but…
You can buy RV water hose so it doesn't taint the water, the only experience I have had with water bladders was back in my big wall climbing days MSR made 10lt dromedary bags I tried everything to stop them tainting the water without success. With out sunlight you should not get mould you can get RV water tablets I just let mine dry out between uses or you could use Milton baby bottle wash regards Mike
@@kisbushcraftdownunder yes, I have had similar experiences with water bladders for hiking and cycling. I used to use steradent for cleaning them out 🤣
@@carlbillingham2670 I have had good success with the platypus water bottles/bags but the hoses seem to end up with a nasty coating so I gave up on the tubes 🤪
You should never drink water from a garden hose, it can and has killed people. If you must, run it for a few minutes prior to filling your tank as fresh water sitting for long periods especially in heat grows deadly bacteria.
Thanks for the review mate. From your experience how does it go with the amount of moving liquid noise in the car given it's pretty much next to you. Cheers! I do like the fact that it helps with the centre of gravity and that it is accessible and out of the way.
You can hear a bit of sloshing if its not full I lift the fill end to get all the air out when filling when its half empty the lump for the transmission tunnel acts as a baffle.I just did a 2000km road and off-road trip and was very happy it had 10 lt when I got home and I didn't notice it regards Mike
The tank is 23 cm wide and with the seat fully back in my Hilux Extra cab the gap is 21.5 cm so you lose the last seat clic me at 5 10" I have two spare seat clicks every car will be different regards Mike
