Nice videos. I used to paint my holes but now days, I squirt a little dab of RTV in the hole, on the bolt, etc. Keeps the rust away and makes less of a mess.

Thank you for this. I had the exact same problem with the wiring. All I got was a click from the control box. I called bulldog to ask them if it sounded like a familiar issue, and they were totally clueless. This kind of stuff just makes my head swim. The instructions clearly show the green and black pigtails connected, so EVERYBODY that follows these directions WILL have this problem,.....and somehow Bulldogs has never heard about it. To make matters worse, when I was installing mine, I couldn't make sense of the wiring so I actually called them to confirm. I have wired many many winches of all brands, and this one seemed weird. I was told to follow the diagram. This video exposing the problem was posted almost 2 years ago. That being said, this is a great little winch, and in Bulldog's defense, you can actually call them and someone does actually answer the phone. These days that is extremely rare!

I'd suggest a wire loom around the winch lines, to help protect both the wiring and the trailer surface. Or, something like a standoff around the top of the trailer. Is the top of the piston frame a potential location to loop the cable to? Another cool project, JD!

J.F.Y.I. you've totally screwed my "wish list" up for the near future!!! THAT'S an awesome trailer! BEFORE you added the winch!!! I was kinda "ho-hum" about the new dump trailer in the beginning....but then.....the "ho-hum" went away VERY quickly! Then this video with the winch?!?!?! Blew me away......I had to take a tylenol because my mind was in overdrive coming up with ways I could use that set up. Thanks for the headache.....lol

You need to get a snatch block and have a good anchor point on the trailer so you can pull some heavy loads. With 4 layers of rope on the drum the winch capacity is only 3400lbs.

A good idea for getting my electric scooter into my truck,using a ramp, when we are going to tow our rv. I usually have my scooter on it's specially designed lift which uses the hitch. Thanks.

Love your videos. Recommend you place a paint drop on the free-spool end cap so you can see if the free-spool end ca is in the open mode or locked mode. I do that on several tractor items that do not have white indicator lines. My eye sight is not the best so contrasting colors of white on black or a fluorescent color against the black stands out well. Excellent video. 👍🏽🙂. I;m a New Subscriber for about a month or so.

Have you thought about heat shrink tubing in place of zip ties, and a clamp to attach wire to trailer framing to keep cables from being lose against frame

Recommend a winch cover that are only $20. Wraps and covers the synthetic rope to keep the UV and debris off it.

Hey bud also big thing to keep in mind the weakest part of that winch are those little cross bars that keep the 3 sections of the winch tied together if one bends that winch is officially broken so just be careful with that

Nice set up you have for your dump trailer, having a setup like this makes it easier to pull a small car, pickup truck or small farm tractor that's been sitting outside for a long time.

How much line do you have on that winch looks to be about 75ft but hard to tell because video doesnt translate that accurately just saying I would love an extra 25 foot of line capacity on my side by side lol

I would have altered the plate and mounted it up higher, tuck it closer to the tarp. More stealth that way and better protected to boot.

Great install!! I've actually been thinking about mounting a winch on my dump trailer so I can easily load and unload my log splitter as I transport it from site to site. I do think it would be more aesthetically pleasing if your bolts were flipped and the nuts were to the inside of the dump bed. Great job otherwise!

Get a set of quick connectors for the winch wires so the don't have to hang out in the sun. Install them up by the tarp plus then no one knows you have the winch hanging out in there!

That's what I was thinking. Mount the quick connector on the front of trailer on the top tubing dust cover plug facing down for water drainage. Ah he'll figure something out. But looping the cables looks tacky.

I think welding it on with gussets in the bottom would have been a better options. And not compromising the frame of the dump trailer.

I think that would have been an extreme way to mount it, but that would have added unnecessary weight and really wouldn't be needed. Good suggestion though

if you want to prevent rust, place grease on the bolts before install, no oxygen no rust or minimal rust

I think he buys all these trailers just because he can afford them, not necessarily because he needs them. The paint inside this trailer does not suggest that it has done much work since he bought it.

Well, I've only had the trailer for a few months. It's been used 7 times. It is for personal use and not business, so don't expect it to be used everyday to haul dirt or scraps

My dump trailer looked new for the first few years. It's 20+ years old now and is dented and dinged but still going strong. It's used around the farm so not exactly and easy life but not beat to heck like in the construction industry.

DON'T draw the end all the into the fairlead like that with with synthetic rope. Any snags or scratches will destroy the rope. You need a rubber stop.
