I doubt they'll be doing heavy towing or hauling with it. That's fine for daily driving. Though I'll be at least tacking mine in 😅

For strength and less chance of cracking, drill corners before cutting.

@@joshouagamber6211those two top corners were he cut the frame, but it wont crack unless your bolts are not tighten to the correct specs and the frame flexes too much.

just set the ones youre installing down and trace them out.

Instinctively, It just doesn't look right....but with all the added Steel, I know it has enough strength for normal driving. Still...there's just something unsettling about reducing the Section's Moment of Inertia / Geometry. by that much. It's harder to fabricate, but a curved "C " would mostly eliminate concentrated Stresses @ the corners. Also, I have seen someone fabricate a "C" which keeps the Sectional geometry ((channel section) by cutting out about 12" of the Straight beam, then going up & over ....but this was on a truck with a deep enough wheel well which went into the Pickup's bed.

Think I’m a crappy c10 frame practice and do the bolt method to get comfortable before I cut up my good c10 I paid $500 for it and dad passed he wanted a square body so got an 77 c10 gonna finish the ls swap and then go from there but just wanna go for a rowdy street rod everyone’s boosted so thinking I’m just gonna try to do a ls9 swap and just run it with a the ar5 trans or the cd009 trans they are stout and i plan on getting the carbon fiber home made hood finished and probably will start on the fenders and inner fender wells later but just something light in front little weight in back but get it light but nimble cause it will be fun cruising down hills high rpm thinking its the end but just seeing a old c10 that will get a wrap on carbon fiber fenders to hide anyways sorry just this gives me a push and im excited and wanna make pops proud

Question for ya… before you even drew your notch template , how did you mark where to cut on the frame? I’m going to be doing my own soon on my truck and just wanted to know what’s the best way to get a good placement

u don’t jus eyeball it whole point is just so it wont bottom out and damage ur frame or other partz

He put the part he bolted down, on the frame first and traced it out then removed it and cut. If youre asking questions like that, you might want to pay someone to do it for you. Your frame is about as important as it gets and. Not very expensive.

Need to know the names and where to get those parts. Also would like to know where u got the stuff to change the location of the rearmed. From the bottoms to the top and not cut the perches off

McGaughy’s suspension sells c notch kits and axle flip kits that don’t require removing the perch

What year is the truck? I have a 69 blazer that the frame is straight like yours , my 71 c10 has an S shape right above the axle, where did you get the c notch, thanks jg

welding is not always stronger than rivets or bolting. plus welding can weaken metal

​@gt3jacoby I have mixed feelings on this because the weld will become much stronger than the surrounding metal so it might cause cracking from heating 1 area so much more than the rest down the line, atleast with aircraft that's why the skin is not welded but held with rivets qnd Philips fastners, this is a car I suppose so maybe it doesn't matter and I'm over thinking
