My process, commentary and how to install the Co-Matic AF19 Power Bandsaw Feeder and Roller Fence. This is a spring loaded fence that can make for rapidly resawing same thickness material. It has great performance and promises to improve my milling process. Some details on the set up:
Bandsaw: Laguna 18 Resaw Master
Bandsaw Blade: 2" x 0.035" Carbide Lenox .7/1 TPI Resaw Blade
Feeder: Co-Matic AF19 - www.co-matic.com/index_en.php
Vendor: www.shopgearinc.com/home (US Distributor)

Bandsaws deserve so much more love.

If the fence is parallel to the blade and the guide bearings are tuned in I never experienced any drift. The power feeder created a very nice result!

Nice video. I just picked up a big Centauro 800 and I’m thinking of installing a feeder on it. Thanks for the info

Good video. I am surprised that the blade does not overheat on such a small machine when resawing. I assume you are okay if you only cut tiny amount. Not sure about all that weight on that flimsy table though

I have power feeders on my shaper and table saw but no bandsaw, I was wondering if your feeder wheels should be in behind of the band blade to pull the wood through, because your feeder wheels is going to push your wood against the rollers. And yes, every feeder, the rollers have met table saw blades.

I'm actually a little surprised that the font (underside) of the roller mechanism isn't co-planer with the bottom of the base. You could mill up a flat hardwood shim and glue it to the bottom of the roller, or even better, use some HDPE (although gluing that might be an issue).

Great video and perfect timing. I just started looking for a feeder for my ReSaw Master. I think I have pretty much the same setup you've got there. I'm curious, with the 2" blade, how smooth have you been able to resaw hardwoods. I've seen some Laguna setups that are incredible but I haven't been able to reproduce that cut quality. Any tips? Thanks, Karl

We just ran a few 2x8 and 2x10 port orford on second to slowest setting and the blade wobbled a little on entry then Straightened out, very smooth. It’s maybe a tad softer than walnut in my estimation. Other than general speed of production I don’t see a reason not to run it at the slowest speed for resaw above 3 inch. But it will blast through cutting strips.

A friend of mine uses a 1” x 4 TPI carbide blade. It cuts sooo smooth it’s almost like a sanded finish

Is there a reason why you didn’t shorten the shaft of the roller assembly so you could get the maximum cut capacity ? Doing so would have allowed you to move the mount for the roller assembly back a few inches.

I'm curious to know what your overall thoughts on the Laguna LT18 resaw master bandsaw?

How do you get your table so polished? I have the same saw and it’s covered in rust stains.

I am resawing 3/4" red oak risers. I understand the metal wheels may leave some marks. How obvious and deep are they ?
@Neverstopbuilding
@Neverstopbuilding Год назад
Deep enough on softwood that I leave the feed side for additional planing. But there are urathane rollers that could be swapped on for feeding close to finish material.

Hi! I was watching an older video of yours about chisel sharpening. Just wandering, what brand of kanaban are you using? I am located in europe, and been hunting for a cast iron lapping plate.

I bought one from Nobori Hammono in Osaka, was generic/house brand. Before that I used a ground mild steel plate from McMaster Carr

@@Neverstopbuilding That was quick! Thanks! I noticed this shop, but unfortunately they do not ship outside of Japan.

Why not use a rubber tire or coating in the feed rollers? Polyurethane?
@Neverstopbuilding
@Neverstopbuilding Год назад
They have alternative rollers of rubber/poly should I desire. I like the super grippy metal ones for big boards. Don’t want a slip

hi can i ask would be that huge problem to import some big hitachi saw? or tooling and maintance would be bigger problem?
@Neverstopbuilding
@Neverstopbuilding Год назад
You mean like the hitachi resaw? Some friends have them, they have upgraded the motors typically.
@jancerny6665
@jancerny6665 Год назад
@@Neverstopbuilding yeah exactly. i would say that build quality is more robust but i saw only one in czech republic and i hear not the best things about laguna stuff

You have no current protection on the feeder and cable. In case of a short you will have full amps from the breaker in the main panel shorted thru the feeder cable.

The metal rollers seem like a huge design flaw...
@jimpackard8059
@jimpackard8059 9 месяцев назад
Nearly all proper band resaws use steel rollers. Rubber can slip
