Its certainly worth a try, I usually leave my garden hose attached with valve open and it ends up corroding . Last time I called a plummer and he had to cut into the female hose end to get it off. I will end up doing the same thing and hope the quick connect will work.

Cannot overstate the importance of putting some silicone paste on the washer and smearing some in the ball bearings. Will last much longer, especially in hard water. Telfon tape is a must too.

OK I got the same exact quick connect you show here. I did have to make an adjustment , hand tight to the spigot wasnt quite enough used a wrench to snug it more, then there was leaking from the hose end, so I changed out the new rubber in the hose to an 0 rubber[better rubber] which I happened to have on hand and problem solved no leaks for now. Im guessing it will develop a leak down the road.

The garden hose already has a female brass fitting connected to it. I screwed on the male piece of the quick connect set to it, and attached the female piece of the quick connect set to the outdoor faucet. Thanks for watching. 🙂

I bought a quick connect but for some reason theres was no pressure coming out and i took tbe quick connect out at put the garden hose without the quick connect and it worked normally i wonder why ni pressure with the quick connect

If you are able to attach a water hose to your faucet, you should be able to use a quick connect. 🙂

These leak after just a few weeks. (Sometimes, a set will last thru the summer.) I have 12 sets. ALLl leak. Water actually GUSHES out. Is there a way to fix them so they don't leak? If not, I recommend solid brass quick-release sets that have an O ring in the male part. I don't remember yhe brand name, but there's a "Best Seller" one on Amazon on Amazon. Just search Amazon for "quick-release garden hose connectors" and scroll until you find the "Best Seller",.

It has been 11 months since I installed this one. So far it has not leaked. So I purchased one for my backyard faucet about 3 months ago. So far so good on that one. I just purchased another one as a gift for my mother-in-law and it was installed 3 weeks ago and she hasn't said anything yet about it leaking. So they have worked out for me. But I have seen some brass ones on Amazon that look really nice. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.😀

Hey Bobbie C. I'm sorry, I just realized I did not answer your entire question. You ask, is there a way to fix them so they don't leak? I did make sure that I tightened everything with a wrench. You could probably use some thread tape and see if that works since you have so many of them. It would be worth a try. I hope that helps. Again thanks for the comment.

I have heard that it's bad to rotate or open the connector under pressure. Maybe that's why it leaks for some people? I don't really know

At 0:50 you say you do not like buying products with brass and plastic - however you are not aware that a good chance that so called, brass, is brass plating over aluminum - which is bad news. When the brass plating is worn off in the tread area, you are now looking at aluminum binding to steel pipe. Go solid brass.

@@bobcatt2294 That's fine. Thanks for the info. I think I said I don't like buying things with plastic components. I don't mind the brass. I actually thought it was brass and plastic. I put the correction in the video in writing saying that the product description states the material is aluminum. So you are probably right that it had a brass plating over aluminum. @@LifesAProject Great to see that in fact you did add that about plated brass over aluminum. Thumbs up. However the "Heavy Duty" series of quick connect fittings are depicted as being solid brass. Here is such a listing: www.ebay.com/itm/224137058854. The trick is to find a quick connect "Auto Shutoff" fitting to complete the set - of course in solid brass. More about the impact of aluminum: both the threaded and the slip connect will overtime wear back go aluminum, then this is when the problem starts. The slip connect will then be harder to slip and the threaded end will be exposed to erosion. In summary: I would not trust Gilmore as they hide the material, aluminum by stating, "Heavy-duty, rust-resistant, all-metal construction ensures long-lasting durability." gilmour.com/products/connectors/quick-connectors/heavy-duty-quick-connector-7151

Isn’t the idea to put it on the end of the hose so you can quick connect it to different nozzles or a pressure washer? Why would you want to disconnect the hose from the faucet?

The wonderful thing about using a quick connect, you are able to use them in different ways. I don’t keep my hose connected all of the time because I don’t want my hose reel sitting in my yard and my faucet is located in my front flower bed. I see what you are saying that you have the quick connect on the other end of the hose to quickly connect and disconnect things like a sprinkler, nozzle, pressure washer etc. I keep the quick connect (female piece) connected to the facet at all times and have extra (male pieces) on other hoses and things. Many use a quick connect this way so they can easily disconnect there hoses and store them over the winter months. So all and all quick connects are used both ways depending on a persons needs. Darkangel7682 - My mom, who is elderly, has difficulty screwing and unscrewing garden hoses. Quick connects let her remove the hose during winter.

My experience: The black pieces tend to start spinning when they get old, then are tough to get out. The male piece spins, and the female piece does't lift to release. I even tried plumbers grease to no avail. They last less than a year for me, then start leaking, then I need my whole tool box to get them off to replace. I would have preferred an ALL METAL design. I got mine from Home Depot. Bummer.

I haven't had to remove/replace any of mine yet, they still work, and I installed this one in 2019, I think. 🤔 So for around $6, it has been great for the money, but you never know, I may get an all metal ones next time. Thanks🙂

What is the name of the first piece you attached?

I'm sorry I should have mentioned that in the video. The two pieces are simply called male and female. I Attached the female connector to the faucet and the male to the hose. They come together in a set or you can actually purchase them separately as well. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching.😀

I'm really not sure if they make a quick connect for a hose bibb/ faucet that does not have threads. But if you're interested they do make replacement hose bibbs that are inexpensive if you want to change it out for one with threads. It may be a good idea to do more research or just call a plumber and ask. Thanks for watching.

It's a 3/4 in, which is the standard or most popular residential faucet and garden hose size.

Those cheap brass quick connects corrode and leak within weeks. Expect a few days if you have hard water.

This one has been on this outdoor faucet sense mid 2019, when I installed it. Still works great with no leaks. I installed a second one of these in my backyard the following year, and so far so good. They have worked great for me, and for the price, I think they are fine. Thanks for watching.

@@LifesAProjectey probably dislike it because these are aluminum and not brass. These cheapo ones tend to not connect/disconnect as easily + can tend to leak. I’ve also found most of the time they thread too far into the spigot and need to be loosened in order to connect to the female end. I’ve got a set of 4 in the drawer and bought some quality ones because these kind are more trouble than they’re worth.

Um...you should have put the wrench on the brass part of that quick connect fitting ..not on the plastic! Maybe that's why your plastic parts don't 'last' for you. 🤷🙃

Lowes = aluminum core with brass plating. Cheaper but be aware, the threads rub off the brass and the aluminum over time will be difficult to screw or unscrew and may even weld itself to the pipe. Get solid brass, which Lowes does not carry. thumbs down on this video for the reason of not knowing the difference.
