Why didn't I think of cutting the holes where the screws were?! I was racking my brain on how to fix that part. I was making the solution over complicated lol. So glad for this video! Thx!

Honestly the first time I put one on my printer (I forget which one) the screws poked out way more than this and caused me some serious headache. I was about to start sanding the magnetic sheet until I had the idea to cut them out since I was going to take the bed off anyways to work on it. Sometimes it takes a series of idiotic thoughts to come up with a solution that works. I'm just glad I was able to share it with others so they don't have to go down that road lmao

Excellent video! Thank you for the advice on sticking on the magnetic plate without any bubbles.

Why put down a magnet? You can use larger clips from a stationary store or blue painters tape and put it right over top of your glass bed. Adjust your Z height offset slightly higher and run your bed temperatures at a slightly higher temperature than normal. That way you can go back and forth with no problem.

id rather get a aluminum build plate and stick it on that, so you have the option of using the glass bed or other surfaces.

The worst! If you currently have air bubbles, cut a small slit with a utility knife and massage the air out of the big ones!

Is there a thin transparent sheet of paper over your bed above the screws? I was wondering if it is supposed to be there or pulled off. I'm talking about on the actual bed under the glass. I have the same fokoos printer.
@KiNG3DPrinting
@KiNG3DPrinting 2 года назад
There should be a blue or clear film under the glass. You can remove it if it's still there but it might leave some glue behind. Use ipa or acetone to clean it off!

Great video Mike. I have a CTC printer and the bed is about 150 X 230. I haven't been able to find a PEI build plate exactly that size. Is it feasible to just buy a bigger one and cut it to size?
@KiNG3DPrinting
@KiNG3DPrinting 2 года назад
Hm, it's hard to say. If you can cut a sheet of spring steel straight without causing warping or jagged edges then it should be fine, but you might be better off looking for one of the soft flex beds instead that are scissor trimmable. You could put a PEI sticker over the flexible buildtak surface they normally come with but I'd give the buildtak a shot first, maybe with some Aquanet. Something like this? www.amazon.com/Creality-Flexible-Removable-Magnetic-235X235MM

Looks good- but my glass plate does not remove (the heater is glued to the back.)
@KiNG3DPrinting

It shouldn't be on most printers. Some older geeetechs had the glass stuck to the metal plate

@@KiNG3DPrinting It is an Artillery Sidewinder, and the pad seems glued to the glass plate. Adhesion has never been great, and I have been using painter's tape to ensure it stays in place. Reasonably reliable, but a nuisance and the bottom texture is not ideal. I was watching your video to see if I could add a plate, and if it would help. Yesterday I tried upping the bed temperature- 10C more and it is much better. With Magigoo I am getting reliable adhesion. I have also built a cabinet (double plastic sheet glazed) with a 30C heater inside, which I hope will help with lifting, especially in cold weather.

Artillery have a video on installation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ecNYbY5-fhc.html. You just stick the magnetic sheet to the glass.

Do I need to compensate the heat since there’s a layer between the bed and the print surface? If I needed to remove it, how would I?
@KiNG3DPrinting
@KiNG3DPrinting Год назад
Nope! It'll still bring it up to proper temps, just probably cycle more often since there isn't as much mass to keep it hot. To remove it just get it hot and peel it off. Clean the goop with iso or acetone

Is adjusting the z home necessary if you can just move bed down?
@KiNG3DPrinting

You'd be moving the bed upward :) You're sacrificing a bit of z-height when you don't compress the bed springs a lot
