In this video, I am adding a Masso MPG Pendant to the Masso Controller on my new Onefinity Elite Foreman. This is a fairly simple and inexpensive (around $200) upgrade for your CNC. This pendant allows you to move the X, Y, and Z axis without being close to your Masso control box. Super handy, especially for maintenance and fine-tuning your X, Y, and Z zero if you don't have a Z probe.

Thanks for the info! I received my Onefinity Foreman Elite last week. This is my first CNC purchase. It's almost ready to go, but my electrician won't be here until next week to install my dedicated 110V and 220V circuits to run it. I took my time with the build and it was pretty fun. I'm looking forward to using it, but I've got to say that I'm disappointed in the lack of manuals and documentation I've experienced so far. The 75-page Foreman Elite manual that I printed didn't even have page numbers even though there is an index listing page numbers to reference. That is just plain STUPID! My MPG pendant came with no instructions and I couldn't figure out where to plug in the serial connector. I couldn't find a manual anywhere. Luckily, I found this video. After spending over six grand on a CNC and accessories, I'm pissed that I have to modify the pendant to install it! It looks easy to do and I can handle it with no trouble, but I shouldn't have to!

I agree, I was (and still am) so surprised and disappointed about the crappy MPG pendant installation solution. I expected MUCH better from Masso. Also, unnumbered pages on the Onefinity manual needs to be corrected. I saw your suggestion on one of the Onefinity groups or forums yesterday (7/18), hopefully you’ll get a positive reply from them. for $21 you can buy a 'mini bluetooth keyboard with dongle', plug the dongle into the Masso internal usb port, and Jog around x,y _wirelessly_. I've been doing that for weeks now, no cord dangling around. Costs about 14% of this 'Pendant' unit's price

You could add a small ribbon cable and avoid the shady install.

You can get a right-angle (90 degree) connector to replace the original. The problem is the Masso enclosure's screw bosses are too far to the right - if the controller PCB were moved to the left, a standard straight connector will fit.

Does the standard wiring you demonstrate also make the eStop work? I saw a comment in a Onefinity forum that an additional wire is needed tomato the eStop on the pendant work.

They’re correct, the eStop requires an extra wire. I have plans to do that at some point, and I’ll make a video when I do it. Probably after the first of the year when the Christmas rush is over.

Hi Marty, I was early to your video and installed my pendant just as you did. My estop didn't work either. Masso support told me to move the black wire in estop from 2 to 1. I see a viewer reported this in the comments. I was watching Ugly Dog (Tune up your CNC series) and he showed doing this procedure. One other thing he suggested. Change the dipswitches on the X & Y motors from Onefinity settings (all up) to alternating 1 up, 2 down 3 up 4 down and then change the settings in F 1 from 400 to 4,000. I haven't had any issues with how smooth my machine works. I would like your opinion.

@@MitchellsWoodwork Just made the changes and I can see a noticeable difference in the smoothness in movement in both X and Y after the change. I was somewhat timid about doing anything to the settings, but just decided I could always change it back. Now, machine moves more smoothly and my Pendant Estop works. Thanks to Ugly Dog. I am going to order his VESA Mount. Better price than PwnCNC stalk and I just don't trust the Amazon mounts for TVs and monitors.

Unless you are extremely proficient in electronics modifications, stay away from the cheaper Chinese knockoffs on Amazon, AliExpress, etc. All of those require additional electronic wiring and hardware to reduce the Masso voltage from 24v to 5v. There are other issues as well. The Masso MPG pendant is “pretty much” plug-and-play. All of the others require their plug (if there is one) to be changed to be compatible with the Masso. I can’t remember how long it took for delivery, but I do remember being surprised at how fast it was. I have asked a few questions on the Masso forum and I’ve had very good response time there. Email support can lag quite a bit, but only because of the 14 ~ 17 hour time difference from the US.

Does the e-stop button on the pendant work properly?

Not yet, I still haven’t figured that one out. I’m thinking I read that it requires a jumper wire somewhere inside the Masso in order to function properly, but don’t quote me on that. For my usage, personally, I’m not too concerned about it. However, I do want to make it work at some point. It’s SUPPOSED to work so I expect it TO work. I’ll make a video on the subject when I figure it out. Anyone out there know the secret sauce recipe?

It looks like there needs to be a jumper between the power source and the estop. There is a video showing the last Masso controller and how to connect the pendant and I imagine it's basically the same set up. You tube will not allow links in comments, but if you search: ( How to connect the Pendant Estop on Masso - Masso Edition 06 ), there is a 2 minute video. That's pretty scary, considering that many (most?) cnc machines have motors strong enough to damage the machine itself or to damage people. Selling a non-operating eStop button seems like grounds for potential lawsuits (if the product requires hacks and jumpers to function, it's generally considered 'fixable' but not 'functional at sale').@@MitchellsWoodwork

I think I found the solution. I'll have to try it. On the Masso G3 the estop 2 has two wires running to it, a green and a black. The Black wire needs to be moved to Estop 1 while leaving the green in estop 2 and the pendant estop should work then.@@MitchellsWoodwork

It would be nice if they made a controller with 3 wheels, so you didnt have click back and forth between XYZ. i agree for something that costs that much, not acceptable.
