Just wrapped up the tail tidy install on my 2022 Black Edition and there are a few changes (also, the product is phenomenal and I would easily have paid twice the cost for the quality and fitment): 1. As Steve Harrop said below, the three Allen bolts have been "upgraded" to size-40 Stars which were actually *very* easy to remove with my Star-sockets and a swivel arm extension. Plenty of room, which may have been a design upgrade? 2. There is a plate covering the license plate light on the back side of the stock arm, which requires a Phillips head screwdriver for the three screws. 3. I believe the clip situation holding the stock light has been modified to be even more difficult to access/remove? I took the additional step of removing the rear wheel hugger to access the one closest to the swing arm pivot mount. Eventually I just cut the sheath off and pulled the wires through the clips and electrical taped them in my own loom after the fact.... 4. The updated CB1000R has an additional relay and USB-C receptacle under the passenger seat, taking up a fair amount of room. Head's up, it's definitely different, but the frame bolts and attachments are all the same - just less space to work! 5. The turn signal connections have been minimized as a 2-into-1 combo for each side. Bonus! Good luck and have fun!
Hi I have 22 plate cb1000r and finding the clip on swing arm extremely difficult to remove,any chance of a video on the 22 plate on removing the number plate lead ,almost impossible
@@nicknicky4991 That was my step 3 modification above. I had to give up, defeated, at trying to actually remove the clip. In the end, cutting the sheath and pulling the LED power/ground wires through the clip was much faster and after wrapping them in electrical tape and routing them back up under the seat, it looked like a stock harness. Thanks @Mustard Bikes for the great video. It proved very helpful along with the comments here that pointed out the subtleties for the 22s. Great product that looks a million times better than that unbelievably heavy rear fender/plate mount from Honda. I was astonished at how heavy it was when I got it free from the bike.

@@MustardBikes bolts to remove the arm were star shaped...extension wire had orange clips but theres only 2 spaces taken by the indecators...so i just put 2 new ends on the wire from the rear arm..
Excellent tutorial! That having been said I truly don’t understand motorcyclists today. For decades we’ve been trying to take our license plates off the rear of our bikes to make it look “cleaner”. Everything from mounting our plates in the rear wheel well, to custom swing arm mounts. Now we’re putting the plates back to the rear of the bike??? I would just leave it stock I mean it just covers the rear tire, not like there’s much going on there to begin with. And it serves a purpose to keep some crap flinging onto the bike. Just my two cents.
Thank you! I think the reason comes more from the love of modding our bikes and making them different to the way they came, rather than an issue on where the plate actually mounts. Plus, the stock mounts generally aren't very "clean". Thanks for your feedback!
besides the love of modding, i think the other thing is that while the rear fender looks nice from the exhaust side of the bike, it looks much less nice from the left side :)
It’s a hideous anchor hanging off the back.Half built wheelie bar.Looks like a belt scraper on a conveyor system.Piss it off straight up and go more in tune with naked theme,clean raw look.Less is more.Less weight...more acceleration. On point vid.🤙🏻
Great tutorial and real easy to follow, just did mine in about 2 hours. Beware though, on the 2020 model I just bought the three Allen bolts that hold the original fender on to the swing arm have been changed to a Star type bolt and were a Bastard to get out.
Thanks for the video, because it was fiddly (mostly rerouting the wires from the swing arm up under the seat). Struggling to understand why there isn't a connector in those wires - when the original fender plate light fails, as it surely will, it will be a tricky job to replace. Otherwise my bike now looks much tidier and it's a good sturdy kit.

very helpful video i intend doing this on my 2023 cb 1000r i take it it will be the same fitting , i have one problem which i never seen on the video were do you route the number plate wire to bring it into bike thank you

Hi Mr Bear, our product comes fitted with a LED bolt of our own design. It has two high output LED's in it and puts out a considerable amount of light (more than enough to light the plate). This comes in the kit included in the price. Hope that helps!
Strange request, what is the width of the clear lens on your indicators? I’m curious to see if the USA model indicators are longer. Mine measure at 4 inches
Hi there, unfortunately we don't have access to the bike anymore so can't measure that for you. It is not unusual however for American indicators to differ in size to those here in AUS.

Hi Gordjy, unfortunately we have not been able to source the OEM plug and as such the original plug still needs to be transferred over. We do sell a bolt on reflector however it's suitability will depend on the size of your number plate (apologies we aren't sure where you are based). Otherwise there are other options such as bolts with reflective heads to attach your plate.

Hi Matthew, unfortunately, the 16 is a completely different design so the 18 plus won’t fit. We were never able to get a hold of a first gen CB1000 so don’t have a design for it. Sorry we can’t be of help this time round.
Hi Matt, with some adaptor plates you should be able to make them fit. Adaptor plate are readily available online and fill in the gap designed for the OEM indicators. Hope that helps!

Hi quick question, Will the top brake light still work when I cut the cord to the license plate light holder?? I'm going to run dirty with plate under bike, so i will remove the stock plate holder that comes with the bike and just zip tie the cord after I cut it in your video. Thanks.

@@MustardBikes manual says to undo a few bits and twist it out the way but im hoping as i have an aftermarket much smaller can it may just be avoided,dont suppose your company makes blanking plates for the rear pegs ?
