I had no idea it is possible to cement in a pole that can then be removed. I am in the process of cementing in short sleeve pieces that my actual poles would then side into. Now I might rethink that idea and do the poles as you did with no sleeve. Thank you for showing me the post mix for this purpose, again I had no idea. Great video.
This is the best idea I have seen in a long time!!!!!! Does anyone know what is conduit pipe is? Lowes sells conduit pipe but it states "for easy bending". Wouldn't tetherball bend it? How wide does this pipe appear to be? Looks so expensive but worth every penny.
Does the plug stay set in the hole while the cement is drying? Thinking of doing something like this for a tether ball pole my dog can play with. What did you end up using for a plug while the pole is out?
Great engineering! I have been researching using pipe sleeves in my garden to put up temporary windbreaks, but other than adding thumbscrews to an exterior pipe I wasn't sure how I would be sure that the fit of an interior pipe would be snug enough. I will need end pieces to cover when not in use and will add drain gravel to the bottom of the hole as well. Thank you for posting (so to speak ;-)).
Excited to see it removable. I didn't really understand the crisco + newspaper, when that was removed (day 1 or the following day), how the pole is removable, etc. Can you briefly summarize for me?
Nice job with the poles. How is it holding up? Any cracking or shifting of the cement? The neighborhood church has some poles that we use. If you want to get the net nice n tight, use one of those cargo ratchet straps.
+RyanDale311 Yup. Put another eye bolt way down low and attach one of your ratchet strap hooks down there. Then feed your net through the upper eye bolt and attach the net to the other ratchet strap hook...then tighten away. Just be careful, those straps can really tighten up a net. Your eye bolts look nice and sturdy, but we tightened ours so hard that we actually bent one of our eye bolts. We have less than one inch of sag :-)
It's just like lard or something that you use for cooking. I found it at the grocery store in the baking aisle. You could probably even use grease, vaseline or maybe even cooking oil.
