As part 7 of our trailer restore project, I install an oak deck from the lumber we milled back in September. The boards had a little bit of warp to them so it made it a challenge getting it all to fit properly.
Our next video will be the completion of this project as we install all the awesome accessories that etrailer.com sent us. Here is a list of the products we will be installing:

I prefer the previous microphone, while it may have its faults, your volume and voice seems to me to be more consistent. Hope all is well on the farm, truly enjoy the channel. Your unabashed spirituality comes through a testament to your faith. Thank you for sharing.

That's the best plan. Considering that you mill your own lumber, you can replace any board that gets damaged. If you weld it in, you might just have to put up with a damaged board and always be irritated by it.

I re decked a 6.5x12ft trailer a few years ago. I left 2-3in in between each board. I find the fact that I can flip a ratchet strap hook down between the boards into the cross members more handy than carrying gravel/chips. I have carried gravel and chips with that trailer by just laying down a cheap tarp. Motor oil is my go to cheap wood preservative also. I'm on 9yrs on some of my trailer decks.

The guy we bought our place from covered everything with a 50/50 mix of diesel and used motor oil. Held up pretty well for the most part.

I've seen other ppl do as you did and cut a smaller piece for the 2" left open in your case. I had about the same left in mine. I decided to make a small gap between all my boards. It made it so much easier to keep clean. Your build is looking great! I'm not done watch them all yet.

You can get heavy duty flat head screws that will go through steel to screw the boards to the trailer . That way you can keep them from rattling . That's what I did . I'm surprised that you used motor oil like that . That oil is not good for the environment and every time you put some thing on the trailer it's gonna get oil on it . If you're worried about rot getting to the boards than you should have put something on the under part of the boards before putting the boards on the trailer . I used Thompson Water Seal . Yea I know it costs money when the oil is free. When you were in the garage the sound was OK but when you went to the trailer the sound was not good at all .

Definitely the lav mic if you are more than a few feet away from the camera. Shotgun if you are closer. I never really noticed any popping. Chuck from Sheraton Park Farms.

Over all, the audio using the lav microphone is superior. I think you should stick with it as your primary audio source, just take care in regards to placement so that it doesn't rub as much. I'd suggest using both, then choosing in post-production which one sounds best for the situation.

I think I liked the old mic better had to adjust my volume a few times also Just a thought since you had another board I would have cut 2 boards on trailer down to approx 7 inches and added a 7 inch so not to have the small 2 inch as I believe it will be more prone to warp . Just a thoght. nice build

Mics... shotgun mics are great but as you know the further away from the mic you are, the more unwanted sound enters the element - including any reverberant sound energy bouncing off of walls and object in the room. This presents different signal "pathlenghts" to the element creating a muddier, less intelligible sound. It is best to keep the mic a little closer to the sound source and reduce (or attenuate) the volume rather than keeping it further away requiring a higher volume setting. It just requires a little experimenting before your presentation! Hope this helps! Blessings.

Like the way your trailer turned out. Should last a long time. As far as sound quality I personally prefer the lab mic. Eveyones has a little clicking or ruffled shirt sounds. But I believe the lab mic produce a more crisp sound.

If I am staying in one position I use the wired mic. If I am moving around or at a machine and I want the audio from the machine to be picked up I use the shot gun mic. Just have to remember to be in front of the mic or if you move turn the mic towards you so the sound quality stays good.

You should’ve left the rear flange on the trailer. Bow your boards up in the middle, start the two ends, the drop the bow. They’ll just snap on in and be fine. No need to remove the flanges to replace boards in the future.

Sounds sweet to my 73 years of wax and bugs live there. End of a car key really ain't the best method of cleaning. Metal drill bits bout set it afire getting the last half inch/LOL, you knew that... just jibing you. Chevys make good waterproofing but I kinda miss the look of wood as I live in a sheet rock cabin and you don't miss till you lose it. Couple times hauling gravel ought to bring up the grain and some of your clay that when it's dry there can be a nose plugger so all in all, really nice total build!! Ya done good Troy but the camera girl was the best (I'm flirting)

Personally, I like he old microphone setup better. Your volume was more consistent and you could still be heard when further away from the camera. Furthermore, the sound today did, as you said, pick up a lot more of the background noise from the rain and such. Secondly, I wanted to ask how you like your grizzly saws. I saw you have a grizzly table saw and band saw. I have been looking at the band saws for my own shop lately and wondering how you like it and how you would rate its quality.

Nice job on the floor Troy would you want to do my trailer too lol. My trailer floor is almost clear shot but it will just have to wait till warm weather. Not sure how I want to floor it yet, it had treated 8 quarter decking made of pine on it. Unfortunately 10 years and it's nothing but rot even with me painting it with water seal. I am considering doing a laminate with 2 layers of 3/4 plywood.

That's a big trailer for a single axle. Go metric and everything becomes so much easier. And work out the width and cut two boards. I.E. start from the center and work both L and R and rip the outer boards down so everything is even. Just like fence pailings. As far as rebating goes get a router. It's 2020 now not 1820.

The audio on your videos has always been bad... I just deal with it, but it is annoying. The new mike appears to pick up too much background noise, and, it looks like you were shouting when you were asking for audio feedback. When you went outside to the trailer, the sound level reduced significantly.
