Red Toolhouse Lumber Company and Farm is a small family effort located in Southern West Virginia. We are tucked away on 100 rural acres. At one time the property was a fully functional farm with pasture land and large gardens nestled on the mountain benches.
The McClung family consists of my wife Kelly, our two boys, and myself (Troy). We are excited to be a part of God’s creation and seek everyday to honor him and to live in the center of his will, whatever that may be. We feel blessed to have been placed in stewardship of this land, his creation, and look forward to making it into something better than we found it.
Thank you in advance. We've got a lot of trees down due to helene. Can I cut my trees into cants, stack and saw later? Swamped with trees but don't want to lose them!
Hi Kelly good to see you on here again shes a working little lady and very talented, Troy I didnt know you were a stone mason it looks really good glad you didnt have much storm damage we got by with just some rain and wind here in southern NC few leaves and twigs in the yard yall take care and God Bless👍
Good video would be a great video we didn’t have to endure your commercial ride along with RU-vid commercials it really gets sad all the fronting of products that are crammed down our throats
Dang, this whole time all you had to do to break the drought was work on something that required it being dry. You're a modern day medicine man! Looks good, a lotta work!
man i am so stupid. I just saw you use the cant to square up the boards and size them. Ive never done that. I'm always trying to put them up against the log rests and on occasion ruined a blade sawing a log stop lol. Just educated a stupid thanks for that little detail i just learned. About to mill poplar for a little workshop lap siding held off the ground .
I agree, I have one jump pack in each of my two vehicles, saved me a few times. Especially when I went camping, 10 miles into backcountry, without no people, I was happy for my jump pack. I also have it plugged in and charging whenever car is running to never get stuck.
Another thing that you might not have thought about with the jump starter pack is that you can use it to charge up the battery for your electric fence set-up without the need to haul the big heavy battery around.
Beautiful ❤...from Kelly's layout to your installation...good to hear your finally getting some much needed rain...your chickens are out there dancing the happy dance...they usually love rain water...mine will drink it from puddles etc over well water etc ❤
Troy, you are a man of many talents. That looks great! I hope you guys all weathered the storm ok. We got it pretty good over here in the Shenandoah Valley, but not nearly as bad as western NC and E. TN, from what I’ve seen.
For the small garden I have, it helped the soil ALOT. We are sitting on hard clay, and my guava tree has fruits this year. I dropped a 5” layer of wood chips on the bed.
I went from Honda to Polaris many years ago because their brakes on their ATVs sucked on the wet muddy trails I ran. If they couldn’t keep up with tech on brakes what else are they behind on. I’ve towed many pounds on an ATV trailer building a remote cabin and going through deep puddles and up and down steep hills I never had belt problems. The EBS I had on a Sportsman was the great on down hills for engine braking.
Settlers& pioneer's upon obtaining land would build a barn, shelter of some sort for there livestock first to protect them from inclement weather, predators.Often living in there wagon or leanto for 1,2 yrs. while clearing land, bldg. house& fencing.
suggestion - get some Rockwool into those walls, ceiling, and floor to keep that place toasty in winter and cool in summer. won't take more than a few bags and you'll never have to deal with it again.
Great video. I’m not new to the mountains, but I’m relatively new to tractor use. About half my pasture is hillside and currently overgrown. I went out yesterday all excited to mow the overgrowth with the bush hog. When I got to the hillside I suddenly realized, “ hey….thus thing could tip sideways…I need some safety education…”. Fortunately, my grasp of physics is pretty strong so I was a was able to intuitively put some of your tips into practice. Just want to say thank you for videos like this to help out the newbies and wannabe’s like me 😅
