The standard Jayco jockey wheel is obviously built to a price point. It’s time to upgrade and I am dead keen to try out the Black Jack electric hockey wheel. I’m no caravan mechanic, but here we go with a RU-vid installation. Hope you like the review

I have been using one of these on my van for around 12 months. Best investment as it uis so easy to use. I have recently added the black foot and it saves having to pull the pin out and adjusting the standard foot. When retracted the foot folds up out of the way.

These are great. I built my own up before Blackjack was available. My jack is identical except for the colour. I need extra height for the Bushtracker so I use various size blocks of timber. I've hard-wired mine so it is always powered. I reworked the wiring and added a cordless winch remote....so with the aid of two cameras on the back of the Silverado, I can hook-up single handedly and not have to get out of the cab more than once. I have a video on my RU-vid channel showing how it works. I leave the bag over the mechanism all the time and can press the buttons through the vinyl just by feel. The light underneath was useless so I removed it and now use the switch as a isolation method if I ever feel someone might tamper with it. That's never happened.

Mate, you have no idea. The folding foot is the best thing ever!

Why is that? I could see the advantage🤷‍♂️

Check out the RedFoot big block from the same company who wholesales the Black Jack. I have one on my ZoneRV Iff Road as it sits high on the Jack. Saves power and time lifting van. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the review Dave, I’ve been looking at these for my van. Height wise won’t be to bad as I can just let air out of my airbags on the van to drop it further if needed, I’ve put an Anderson plug on the A frame too so I can just plug straight in instead of the car and disconnect when finished. Look forward to further reviews after you have used it a couple of times. Cheers.

Airbags FTW, I reckon that will be a mod soon too

@@DASHOffRoad yeah, I love them, makes it so easy to level out the van when you get to those uneven sites. Looking forward to the car getting done now and should be all sweet.😁

Glad to see you put it in the same place as mine, (aka Facebook,)I did actually file out one of the slots to allow the head to be square with the van, we're very happy with ours, much better and lighter than the Ark XO 750 I had fitted, we have not had any height problems and being in tbe middle makes it neat and easy to use from either side.

Good idea with filling out the slot, I think I should do that too 👌

Why not face the buttons to the drivers side as that is the side you are getting out of and was a pain with the normal jockey wheel. What was the height difference of your jockey wheels largest height compared to this? Measure that then add it in timbers or even a high lift jack base and leave them in the toolbox incase you need them. I would attach a dummy anderson plug onto the mesh screen to connect it to so it doesn't flop around and damage the cabling or get crap in it. I prefer the blue trail-a-mate only coz it's a jack aswell and can be removed when travelling.

Great video but that jockey wheel by Blackjack would be extremely irritating as it takes so long to lift the van. Will be interesting to see what you think of it after using it for a while. I did a lot of research looking for a jockey wheel for our 22ft Jayco Outback and I ended up with a Boss 370. I will be sticking with my Boss 370 - much faster, has a wheel and a base plate and lifts a lot higher.

Thanks for the video but the thing for me would be time and if you ever needed to put it on a tow truck how would you do it without a jockey wheel?

Thinking of upgrading my jockey wheel, how is yours holding up. Does it go high enough with the 200. I also have a 200 with a 2inch lift with airbags and I find even the standard arc jockey wheel I have isn’t high enough. I was hoping the black jack does. Also been watching your videos for ages, but never comment. Just wanted to say it’s great content, as I love how you say your thought process out loud. Very easy to watch.

Thank you for your comment, too kind. Yes my car has an 85mm lift and still work. If it died tomorrow I would go out and buy another 👌

Are you gonna add more water tanks like you did with your other van?

@@DASHOffRoad I did my own after watching your vid and thought yeah naa. Instead used 2 x 40l one front one back and plumbed into the nearest tank. They fit easily between the chassis beams and give me 80l extra balanced front to back, and they are level with the main tanks so gauges still read true.

You should watch a you tube video to see what the retractable leg is for!

Just carry a large block of wood with you to get the extra height..

Dave the black steel part stays on so when you lift it up all the way it will fold up out of the way I have purchased on it is still in the box waiting for my new van to arrive next month

I hear what your saying, but I don’t get the point. The standard leg tucks up out the way better, and goes lower 🤷‍♂️

Sorry but your bit of a wally, but thank you for having a go, you sa how long it takes to lower, but did you every time how long it takes to mount the old jockey wheel on and wine up, why would you say chuck to old jockey wheel out for, put it in the shed, you said you never got the wiring package cause you would wire it your self, sorry why not wire back to Caravan put a switch in sid the door next to a switch for the 12v water pump to turn it off, lot's of great ideas here on RU-vid, i have all my wiring go back to one fuse box, no hidden fuses anywhere, that would be a pain in the arse every to to plug it in to use, btw the Hand break cables go forward when you put the parking brake on, will clear it heaps

Heavy expensive piece of kit adding little value, if it had a wheel, maybe, but nah
