This video shows how I installed carbon fiber tank and frame infills on my 2022 Triumph Speed Triple 1200RS. It shows the removal of the battery, fuel tank and airbox.
It would be helpful for anyone needing to change the air filter or get to the radiator cap or spark plugs.

Thanks very much for posting all the detailed information 👍🏿 I just picked up a ’22 RS and am having a blast. This is my first Triumph so I’m still learning how things go together. I got the fly screen and visor, but can’t figure out how to safely take apart headlight visors, etc without breaking any delicate little clips. I’m going to order a service manual. Hi Scott greetings from the UK, can u tell me how you install the chain guard on the 1200rs as I have bought a carbon one .......but for the life of me can only see one bolt to undo near the rear sprocket......please help many thanks
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel 5 месяцев назад
I had to go look at it again because it's been such a long time since I changed mine. So you see the bolt near the rear sprocket. There is also a bolt just in front of the hole in the side of the swingarm that is put in from the wheel side facing out. If you get a flashlight and get your head down in there you might be able to see it. There are also two threaded collars in the chain guard itself. The front one is for one of the hugger fender bolts and I think the second one is also. So you would have to remove those bolts before the chain guard could come off. I am certain that I had the rear wheel removed at the time when I replaced the chain guard. I was also changing the hugger at that time also. To remove the rear wheel you would need a special socket and a stand for the bike. You would also need to remove the muffler to get the wheel off. I didn't remember how complicated it was to change the chain guard. If you're having any thoughts of getting the carbon fiber hugger, I'd suggest you get it and do both at one time. Sorry I couldn't be the bearer of good news. Best of luck and thank you so much for subscribing. I haven't been uploading much lately, but plan to start again soon.

Did you make a video for the scrolling indicators? I’ve been told you need to set the up through the computer from the triumph dealer. But I think they should be plug and play
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel Год назад
I did not make a specific video about installing the scrolling indicators. I did mention it somewhere in one of the videos that they are indeed "plug and play". The most difficult part of the installation is having to disassemble the rear taillight/signal/license plate holder to run the wires. I did not disconnect the battery during the install so I had no "service overdue" code when I finished. If you do disconnect the battery, you will need to reset the date and time to clear the "service overdue" code. Thanks for asking and enjoy the install. They are more visible and look pretty cool with the hazard lights on.

Cool, am going to have the rear frame powder coated, so good to find a video on tank removal. I have the access to the online workshop manual to.. but good to get an idea first. Didnt you have to run the engine with the fuel pump fuse out? says the lines are under pressure?
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel Год назад
When I took the fuel line off there was no pressure in it. I did not turn the power to run throughout the entire project though. I think the only time you would get fuel pressure is when the bike is in the run or on position. A little bit if fuel dribbled our, but nothing major. I'd like to know how you got the online service manual. Is it directly from Triumph, a factory manual?

Did you install carbon belly pan sides and belly pan center? Thoughts? Any pictures of the carrier intake wing installed? Thanks!
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel Год назад
I didn't get the belly pan sides or center. I have been waiting to install the carrier wing. I have been trying to find the part that goes above it that I had thought I had ordered but only got a very small "center infill" piece. So it is still not installed. You may have just given me the initiative to get it done though. Thanks. I'll post a video of the install... maybe soon, maybe not so soon, but I'll give you a shout out when I do. There's been a couple of times I started imagining what it would like like with every carbon fiber part available. I can find all the bodywork and all the black plastic covers. The tank would be the only painted part left.

Hey Scott, nice video! I'm looking for buying a speed triple like yours, am I right there are no passenger handle options in the market right now? In your experience could it be possible to attach one from the under side of the seat?
@scottsspeedtriplechannel

You are not the only one. Either "2up vlog" or "Sgt Sodom" or "cuban Rider" channels had people mention that. I don't remember a fix or even a why it happens though. I have forgotten to close it a couple of times though. My tank bag is large and after fueling up it sets down over tha cap. Twice I think I have just fatened down the bag and ride away. The bag is tight enough that no gas was spilled. No warnings showed on the dash either.

Thanks for the reply! Any issues when installing the windscreen? By issues I mean weird Triumph warning messages, etc? And may I ask where you got yours from? Thank you very kindly for thr patience and replies!
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel 2 года назад
@@dblhelx I have the OEM flyscreen and windshield. You can order them from Triumph. The windshield attaches to the flyscreen but you can install the flyscreen without the windshield if you prefer. To install the flyscreen, the instrument screen has to be unplugged. I found that anytime you unplug the screen or disconnect the battery, a "service overdue" warning will show until you reset the date and time. When the power is cut to the screen it reverts to the year 2000. After resetting the date and time the "service overdue" light goes out. You could watch the setting the clock and shift indicator light video and it shows that. You're welcome to ask questions anytime. If I can help I'll gladly do so. Thanks for watching the videos. I hope you keep watching in the future.

Nice video ! I've had the carbon frame infills for a while now, procrastinating as I knew it would be a pita to install. I've had the tank and airbox removed when I first got the bike to wire a usb plug in the front. What electrical boxes were you talking about and how hard was it to take them off.
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel 2 года назад
Directly above the battery box are two "electronic parts" just wider than the box itself. The top piece snaps into place and has only three fairly large electrical connections at the rear. Under that is another part in a plastic housing with two plastic "pins" that slide into grommets on the left side of the bike. That piece also has a bolt holding it down on the right side. I had to move both those pieces to reach into the frame infill area more easily. I did not disconnect the connections, just lifted them up and back out of the way. I have a question for you... is the #1 cylinder throttle body butterfly plate held by a gold colored cross piece like mine? If you look closely at the throttle bodies, mine has a gold colored bracket or brace on #1 cylinder, but the other two are black. Thanks for watching. I'll have a new video out soon with the SC Project exhaust sound comparison. I hope you stick around for that too.

Is that the Triumph windscreen? And how well does it work. Thx
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel Год назад
Yes, that is the OEM "flyscreen" and windscreen. They are two separate parts. You can just install the flyscreen if you choose to. I always ride with a pretty large tankbag (usually stuffed full) so I have a good "windbreaker" from that alone. When the bag is not so full, the screens do help with direct wind blast a bit. I have noticed on days with heavy winds that I seem to get more buffeting with the flyscreen and windshield than before I installed them. I only had the bike a month or so before installation though so it may just be that I did not notice the buffeting before I put them on. I felt like the flyscreen completed the looks pretty well and would protect the instruments screen some also.

Also be aware that I cannot get into a full tuck with the tank bag on.

Hey Scott, great video. Have you noticed any difference on the intake sound after changing the air filter? Especially when the throttle is wide open. :)
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel 2 года назад
So a lot people/ videos mention the intake sound being so good. I honestly don't even notice it until the exhaust valve is open which is not often for me. Yes, there is deeper intake sound when I get on the throttle hard. Overall for most riding I just hear a deeper tone.
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel 2 года назад
I misread your question Can. I replaced my air filter with an OEM one. It made no difference in the sound of the bike. I posted a new video of the SC Project muffler installation, which made a big difference in sound. I thought that was what you were asking about. Sorry.

Is the cat welded to the headers? I’m thinking of getting a mid pipe and it would be nice if I could bolt back in the cat if needed.
@scottsspeedtriplechannel
@scottsspeedtriplechannel 2 года назад
The catalytic converter is welded to the headers. The exhaust consists of three parts. The first section are the three header pipes with the welded on catalytic converter. The O2 sensor is in this part just in front of the cat. The second part is a black squarish collector/ primary muffler. It uses a donut type gasket at the headers and has two pipes exiting the rear. The upper of those pipes contains the exhaust valve. Lastly is the large silver secondary muffler. Sorry about that, but thanks for watching. I hope you continue to watch and comment in the future. A full system might be the best way for you to go.
