Installing Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps on my Tesla Model 3

I was bored and decided to buy these carbon fiber mirror caps for my Tesla Model 3 off of Amazon ($40). They kind of reminded me of the BMW M style mirrors and since I used to own a BMW, I was like...why not? Right? So yeah...I bought these mirror caps and they actually look pretty good on my car -- especially when you look at it from the front.
Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the install!

I think I'd put a strip of black vinyl around the mirror to cover up the remaining white areas. Pro tip: If you have a leaf blower, use that to blow the water droplets from your car after rinsing. It will get about 90% of the water off the vehicle, making the final drying much easier/faster. My neighbors probably think I'm nuts when I get the leaf blower after my car!

Good idea to cover it up with vinyl! Also I heard about the leaf blower method but haven't tried it yet haha! Do you have an electric one?

I used vinyl wrap around the mirror edges. I wash using a two bucket method for soapy water and rinse for cleaning the mitt. I dry with a waffle weave towel, squeegee and leaf blower.

thats really nice Jay!, some great ideas. i recently bought a Motrobe Rear Trunk Organizer Side Divider on amazon, its been great to put wine or milk containers in there for transport home safely for $15 cant go wrong. thanks again for your vids

I purchased a set of matte carbon mirror covers on eBay for $100. They have the rounded edges to cover the painted mirror edges. It looks like the RPMTesla covers but for 35% less. I actually wonder if they are the same mirror covers just rebranded. I vinyl wrapped the edges to hide any paint from showing through. I liked your video on washing the car. You should try the two bucket method with a wash board in order to avoid putting dirt particles back on you car. Looking forward to more of your videos.

The Rpm ones have a lip that hide the white paint next to the mirror.

The RPM mirror caps still show paint on the inner mirror edges. I ended up using vinyl wrap under the covers.

I was thinking about accenting my Model 3 with carbon fiber pieces. It's on hold for now. A project for another day perhaps. Getting some ideas now though.

I have the carbon wing, mirror caps, fender camera covers all in matte carbon. The interior is also matte carbon covered. This is on contrast to my BMW M3 which has glossy carbon on the exterior and interior. They are parked next to one another in my garage.

What wash & wax did you use to wash mirrors (your car)?

I used Meguiar's wash and wax to wash my car. A couple weeks ago I used HydroSilex's ceramic kit to do a simple ceramic coat

Hey Jay, I always love your videos and I have a model 3 myself that has major carbon fiber accents inside and out and I wanted to show you that there is another piece that goes around the front of the mirror that would cover up those white parts that stick out. I can send you pictures if you want, just can’t seem to add pictures here in the comments so let me know your preferred method

I've never put my Model 3 through an automatic car wash tbh. It's a controversial topic -- some people are okay with risking scratches and some people avoid them. They say that automatic car washes today have softer bristles or something to be more safe when cleaning the car but personally I wouldn't risk it lol. Plus I love hand washing the car!

That’s not real carbon fiber that abs plastic with fake laminate Carbon under the coating. They have real Carbon now for 300$ go for real CF.

I'm not a fan of carbon fiber (anymore). However, I might end up doing this to @naughtytesla since I will be installing the ridiculously expensive Model 3 Carbon Fiber Spoiler from Tesla.
