I have a protege5 and I got the fronts done in 3 hours gonna aim for an hour for the rear tomorrow. First time too for me. 15 isn’t bad though especially if newer to mechanics
One tip, if you take a control arm loose that has a bushing with a bolt through it, don’t tighten the bolt until the suspension is at the angle it would be with the car on the ground. Like if it’s parallel with the ground when the car is on the ground, don’t tighten the bolt while the suspension is in full droop(like up in the air). Otherwise you will put the bushings in a constant “twist” and they’ll wear out faster.
It’s just as easy, the struts go in and out just like oem. you just need a spare jack to let the rear control arm and spring down easy. I managed to put coilovers on my mk6 Jetta with an independent rear suspension aka divorced with two oem vw jacks. You just need patience
@@alexbueno5815 thank you. That makes sense. I am putting in some BC's on my 2018 Camry and my only question is the spring preload on a divorced setup. I have seen a bunch of videos on it but the Camry is a bit different then say a Subie as far as the setup goes from what I have noticed. I will be giving it a go today do cross your fingers. 🤞
I mean, why not? You can coat almost anything. So why not your springs, they are painted like a car and if you can coat a cars paint you can clearly coat painted springs.

I feel like this is simple and there’s so much how to for coil overs and it’s pretty straight forward just remove bolts and the springs and the shocks and install coil over and bolt it down
I got my first set of coilovers in the mail today. One is already installed. I've done stock suspension on MK2/3 Volkswagens so many times I just know how now lol.
Tittled for dummies, but didn't point out the actual pinch weld jack points or the the ones on the subframe. You guys also didn't removed the pre-load on the suspension bushings. The car will sit as much as half an inch higher when set for a 13.25 ride height. This is 101 coming from vendors. Going to have do redo your work before this car goes for an alignment. You should have also provided the motion ratios so people can accurately adjust the shock body height to get exactly the ride height they want in one adjustment. As we know, the left and right side don't sit the same for the same measurement on the shock body.

Unbind the bushings. Need to tighten the bolts with load on the suspension not when its hanging. Watch gears and gasoline K Swapping My Honda Civic - Episode 3 @12:00. Control arm bushings have a toothed sleeve molded in with it. Thats why you fight the control arms trying to get the coilovers in or out. If it has a free floating sleeve like in some aftermarket parts, then it is not needed. I ask everyone i know if they unbind their bushings, they have no idea what i'm talking about.
So you want an affordable manual RWD car that isn’t a pos? Seems like literally anything that is running and has those two features is like 10k+ now. Dudes asking 8500 for rusted out stock sn95s and 5k for bare 240 shells now lmfao

Fitment with the ND, very nice. Still want to try one, had a 15 NC3 GT for about 3 years. Sold it for financial reasons just before the Rona really sank in, and found a very gently used 91 NA for ~$7500, 65k original miles. Not quite as pressed to drive an NB however, never really cared for how it looked compared to the NA. Side note, and completely off topic; if anyone in the Aurora/Parker/Centennial area (or within 50 miles of) of CO has a fifth gen ('92-'95) Civic hatchback, is in decent shape/milage (175k limit) and is looking to sell for a _reasonable, lol please_ price, hit me up. Like, $10k *at most.* Yeah, I know. Trust me lmao I know. But I promise not to molest it.
