This is my very first video so please bear with me as I show you how to refasten concrete trim tiles on a rake edge. This is a simple repair that anyone can do using common tools.
Thank you so much! I loved your video. It was straight to the point. I have my own business called Pretty Handy and I watch a lot of how to videos where the provider talks way too much...not you! Thanks again!
Thanks for this video! This last storm took off one of these trim pieces. I've got the replacement but wasn't sure how to go about replacing it without having to take off the whole row. While I'm up there would you recommend I hit all the trim tiles with some of the adhesive in the joints to future proof any more coming off? It seems like these rounded ones in my area are prone to getting blown off.
Seems dodgy to me. I am sure it is fine for most rain but add strong wind with heavy rain and I could easily imagine the water making its way to the edge and down the structure. Still, thanks for doing the video. It is the closest to what I need so far.
Rain can't get in there is a 1' ft overhang on this rake the felt is turned down over the edge, it's supposed to be turned down 1" but it's not quite that on this rake. This is exactly how these particular trim tiles are installed here in the southwest. We didn't install the roof we just re-fastened the trim tiles that fell off due to the wrong fasteners being used. Thanks for watching.
Using a bead of tile adhesive in place of one fastener is totally acceptable especially in a repair like this. Its not prudent or cost effective to remove the whole rake for one nail. Its like removing the entire slope of a slate roof to replace one broken slate just so you can have 2 nails in the slate instead of 1 slate hook. Thanks for watching
