We have FINALLY installed the electrics! We feel this is when the van really 'levels up' and starts to take shape. So much planning has gone into our bespoke needs for storage and power supply, which were met and measured to the 'T' by our electrician Stuart - who we couldn't recommend enough - details linked below.
Due to our limited space, especially for a full-time camper we really had to be smart with our electrics. Thankfully Stuart built a custom rig to go under the small bench, which houses two 100AH lithium-ion batteries, a 2000w inverter, a solar controller and a fuse board.
Going in with full precaution, we have three ways of suppling power to our batteries; first, is the obvious solar which we will be used often, supplied with a rigid 175W panel on the roof. Second, is DC to DC meaning that when we drive, the energy generated will charge our batteries and lastly, a stationary hook up point installed on the side - meaning you can charge your batteries with an electric hook-up normally found on campsites.
Other installed items include:
- Fitting plenty of USB and 12v sockets within the van.
- Installing a Shurflow pump, enabling the best water flow for our tap and shower.
- Motorhome Wifi 5G NOW Compact Pro (quite the mouthful)
- Overhead dimmable lights.
- Variable temperature kitchen counter lights.
- Wiring ready for the installation of our diesel heater.
- Wiring to our 12v compressor fridge.
- Roof bed reading light.
FINALLY... With everything installed, covered up and painted, we can attempt more for our next video!
