Looks awesome! Don't forget to remove those covers before turning on the lights. I remember in my younger days seeing many of those covers melted by people who forgot.
Well thanks! That's an interesting thought. I think every vehicle is gonna have different mounting challenges. In my case I was glad I figured out a solid way to do it without adding any new holes to the car body.
The lights are of course, Hella cool man! I bought a set when I was in Germany for my '74, yet to put them on as I am changing the large aluminum bumper with a '67-'68 Camaro bumper and fiber spoiler first.
Right on! Bumper change on a 74+ is a good idea, I feel very lucky to have the small bumper version. Camaro bumper seems like a popular starting point since it's a nice, simple chrome bumper.
Now that I've lowered the suspension, that's kinda happened on its own! I find I'm not using them very much, since there are always other cars on the road and I don't want to be a jerk and blind them.
such category as driving lights doesnt exist. Its either a fog light, or an additional set of high beams. (of course there is drl category, but in this case its not). so if its a fog light you have to wire it so it can come on with parking lights and can be on with low beams high beams. if its a + high beam, then it has to be on with high beams. with fog lights when the weather is bad, you can use it. if its a high beam you have to switch off when someone is coming, and it has to work simultaneously with your factory high beams. its that simple. americans started calling everything driving lights, which category doesnt exist, and even they cant define what it is. every light is a driving light because its not mounted on my house. also parking lights (5w) are not driving lights as well. and DRL is a separate thing usually 21w or led, and only on the front. but that is Daytime RUNNING LIGHT. who came up with the term driving light????? now you have to use high beam and "driving lights" separately so its 2 switches, every time someone is coming, instead just using it as high beam. EVERY DAMN AMERICAN WIRES THESE TO A SWITCH , while we wire to high beam so it can be turned off instantly with one switch. not 2
Another way to define these is "auxiliary lights". Meaning they are an extra supplement to the factory lights, and you can do whatever you want with them. I prefer having them on a separate switch so I can use them independently. But I agree they shouldn't be used in traffic, just like "off-road" or "rally" lights. Same basic idea.
To add to the confusion they also have the category of spot lamps where the fresnel lens is replaced by a clear lens and the optics are setup for a narrow concentrated beam .
