GPU: GeForce GTX 750 Ti 4GB
Storage: RAMOS SSD 256GB + Seagate HDD 500GB
OS: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, SP3
Monitor: CRT LG Studioworks 563N
Speaker: Vintage Infinity PC Speakers
About: Installing GTA IV The Complete Edition on my PC with Windows XP x64 (SP3) in 2024. Want to test and try running this game and see how it performs. It really feels good to be able to use this great OS again after a long time. GTA IV was first released for Microsoft Windows on 2 December 2008.

I remember this game was revolutionary when it came out and made lines of people in front of stores. I played this and Assassin’s Creed 1 and both were a big leap from what I’ve played before

that's pretty decent PC for that game, 750ti is 2014 gpu, RAM ammount is an overkill, i7 was realeased year after gtaiv and was the top cpu for that moment. PC's with core2duo and 2006/7 gpu struggled to run GTA IV, that setup is good enough for GTA V. I had fresh PC back in the 2008, but not top one and game ran at 20-30fps.

If you have it on console just delete the patches/don’t update (CD version only) You may reinstall it if needed For PC, I think you can use downgrade patches

I play GTA 4 with a 2GB RAM Geforce 710 Windows XP office computer and get ~15 FPS. Have to play at 800x600 otherwise the game will have too low fps. Very playable for me. You have a really, really good setup there.

That's not true. I have the retail versions GTA 4, EFLC and Resident Evil 5 - Games for Windows LIVE works just fine. I also tested those games on my Windows XP machine - no issues, the servers are still online. The achievements works too.

This game loves fast single core CPU's like new gen i5/i7s, better single core always gives you higher performance, i remember i ran GTA IV on a i3-7350K 5,5GHZ with old ATI radeon HD4870 and it perfom like on modern PC with GTX1050 or something like that

@@anywow I'm still playing it on PC now. Better than GTA V. Back then i bought a preowned PS3 and lucky for me the seller also had GTA IV . So much fun back then. Playing online without paying for subscription. Now i just play the pirated version but still having fun. The graphic though felt not like when playing it on PS3 . Back then i don't have a good PC to play the game. Anw, thanks for the nostalgia , bro.

Where did you get SP3 for Windows XP x64 Edition? As far as I know the official SP3 only works with the 32-Bit Version of XP and for the 64-Bit Version of XP (which technically is based on the Windows Server 2003 Kernel) there never was an official Service Pack 3.

No, I don't use any optimizations. I had a similar experience running GTA 5 on windows 10. It could be problem from incomplete drivers. Though I'm not sure.

If you're considering a change, you might want to consider the newer version, Windows 11, for long-term future use. I suggest thoroughly investigating this issue first. Start by checking your device manager to see if any drivers are missing or need updating. Additionally, ensure that your GPU driver is up to date. If you still have no luck, then perhaps changing your windows is an option.

Not possible. Only possible with GTA IV since GTA V requires at least DX10 while XP supports up to DX9
