I bought the same brand but I got the front and inside camera. One day a car rear ended me and this dash cam caught everything. I'm very thankful for this investment.

I just bought the exact same model (10/6/23) and I was surprised that the cigarette lighter power connector does NOT have a USB port on it. I would have preferred one like you have in this video. This is a very good video! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Just got mine yesterday and installed it today. Your video was super helpful! I have a 21 outback, and so far, no issues with eyesight. I placed it in the same spot you put it. This is my first dashcam, so i will have to see how it holds up. Great video!
Great video thanks. I wish Subaru (and other car brand) would simply add the option to add a SD card and record the iSight cameras. All Cars today have rear cams and most have front cams. Manufacturers simply need to allow us to save the files. Cheers from 🇨🇦

I have 2016 Subi which I take to my fly fishing, camping, and hiking trips in CA. and other states. Mine isn't as jazzed up as your subi but I'm very happy with my simple mods. Thank you for the video. My 2022 OBW was totaled, thanks to someone not stopping at an intersection and then t-boning me. I remember thinking in the hospital ER that my next OBW was getting a dash cam!

@@ChasingAdventuresCO I have been looking at different dash cams when I spotted your video, so that is now my next purchase. You know, the upgraded infotainment really is nice. I am hoping that there is a software upgrade for the 2022 models. Driving the 2023 compared the 2022r can best be described as like kissing your spouse's identical twin; very similar, but there is something different that you cannot quite figure out.

You didn't have any issues with the Subaru eyesight? I installed on my Forester and the eyesight got angry and wouldn't work. I think it was from the wires being tucked into the area behind the camera for the eyesight that did it. Works fine after I removed the dash cam. lol! I just ordered this set up and a Dongar Dash Cam Power Adapter for power by tapping into the mirrors power. Slick little device.
Yeah, you really have to make sure that you tuck the wires behind the eyesight cameras. I never had problems with it. But that power adapter seems pretty cool. But don't you still need to run the rear camera wires anyway?
@@ChasingAdventuresCO Yes. However it's one wire instead of 2 so, we'll see how it works out this time. Definitely going to be a little more careful tucking that wire in behind the eyesight housing. Fingers crossed.

Just finished completing this with my 2019 Subaru Outback. Had some trouble keeping the clear plastic sheet the front camera sticks to from falling off the windshield, even after using alcohol. I don't think it sticks well to the black dots on the windshield. I had to mount the plastic sheet the camera attaches to a little bit lower. Worked well, after that. For those about to buy the camera, the longest the camera records in a loop is now only 2 minutes. Thanks for the helpful tutorial!
Hello Alisha, glad to hear that you have successfully installed it with minor issues. Yes the clear plastic will not stick to the dots. And thank you for the update and you looked at the menu to see if there is 5 min loop option?
@@ChasingAdventuresCO Yes. I double checked. It's the same model and it only has a 1 or 2 minute loop. I'm even using the same memory card you recommended.
Just did a rear cam instal on my 22 outback. Instead of having exposed wire from the camera (on the hatchback door) to the car itself, I ran the cable through the black rubber hose that already has cables running through it. Then I went through the panels down the side and popped out a little door right above the power outlet. It was definitely tricky feeding the wires behind the paneling at the top and through the hose, then getting hoses re attached to the metal frame was a real b***h Nothing wrong your with this setup, I just wanted hidden wire without the trouble of hardwiring it.
I live minutes from NYC, the roads get very congested certain times of the day. Thanks for sharing the day and night time resolution. Looks good enough to me. Years ago I was involved in t bone collision. The inebriated driver that blew through the intersection with stop sign blamed me. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt and I was found not at fault. That incident happened before dash cams existed but I’m ordering one now.

FYI. If you are thinking about hardwiring the power cable to your fuse block, just know that the camera only works with the supplied adapter. I cut the adapter off and wired the cable directly to a fuse tap, the camera wouldn't power on. I had to remove the positive and negative prongs from the board with a solder iron and then solder wires in it's place which then allowed me to tap the fuse block.
I am thinking about buying a universal hard wire kit and the kit comes with micro and mini USB. For this dash cam would that work or is it something like USB C? Cheers@@shadowx2447
How did you route the wires past the right side eye-sight camera? Looks like you slipped it between the camera plastic housing and windshield then tucked it into the headliner?
I had the same one about 2 months now it was supposed to show a gps or a maps when you played back in it own app but it doesn’t show and I can’t even read a tag number on the car in front of me at the stop lights , it a lied from the manufacturing , it’s a junk . I try to contact them to ask why it doesn’t show a gps but nobody answers me

Hello Palmela, I am glad I could be of help. And to answer your question, you can put it at a place where the screen is visible and away from the eyesite cameras but it could be a distraction while driving in dark so I placed it where I did. Also I have the screen saver so the screen turns black. Again, it's totally up to you but I prefer not to see anything lit while I am driving. Awesome video! Appreciate that! Just one question, would there be any concern to run the rear camera cable via the middle pillar, where the’SRS AIRBAG’ sign is? In the menu they mentioned something about that’s near where the curtain airbag is, and there shouldn’t be anything between the airbag and the passenger.
Hello Yang, Thank you for your comment and no as long as you don't run in front of the airbag. the way I installed my wires are just at the edge of the pillar and no way near the air bags and door seals. so I should have any issues with it~
@T K hello TK , if you have concerns about the side air bags, you can slip it through the door sills so it's away from the side air bags. But I don't have any issues running it like I did because it is not in front of the air bags.
I wonder how the non-hardwired parking mode performs on this particular dash cam as almost all other brands require hardwiring for parking mode. Thanks for the tutorial. I will be buying this right now. Just need to figure out a way how to run the cables on the floor in my 2006 R52 Cooper S...

Hello, no. You don't need to hard wire in order for the parking mode to work. The unit has a small battery built in. And I believe the parking mode is automatically activated once the main power source is shut off. If not it should be an option to turn on in the menu
Hey man.. I hope u can answer me... Is your rear window tinted??? I got my suv rear window tinted today and im willing to buy this camera... However im not sure if the back camera will work properly because of the paper film tinted... I got 35% film in the back window
Hi Christine, both cameras are holding just fine. But make sure to clean the rear plastic with 70% isopropyl alcohol and After scrub the residue with clean paper towels really good so it has a strong bond with the double side tape.
Hello, thanks for this video. Does the parking mode work with the 12V power adapter? I thought you would need to have it hardwired to a fuse that has constant power without turning on the engine?
I know what you mean as I encounter same issues with a older Dash cam but since I've put these on, never had issues in 100+ heat or 20 below cold and Make sure to use supplied clear film before sticking it on with a double side tape.
I have seen my Dashcam flash, a yellow light before flashing, the red recording light, I wonder what that is? Heaboli didn’t answer me when I asked the question.
Hello Peanut Man. mine flashes purple before it starts recording. but I do format the card to give space for recording if there is nothing I need. maybe its telling you the card is almost full? try formatting the card from the cameras menu and try it again. if not just reset to default setting and see. that might do the trick.
@@ChasingAdventuresCO Heaboli got back to me and stead that flashing yellow means it’s recording a event to save permanently, like rough handling, or a collision or a parking warning.

Hello Jam, my specific unit does not have Cabin facing camera but you can use the camera for the rear window to use it as cabin camera or someone commented he got the unit with both front and cabin combo camera and it's been working great. I don't know if it was the same company but there are many brands out there that might fit your need and installation process is same for most of them.
@@ChasingAdventuresCO Thank you for responding, they had a pretty good deal on this 4k camera, before I decide I will take a look at some more that has an inside facing camera.
it's going well, I have no complaints thus far other then the emergency recording is very sensitive and it will take up all your memory card space so no new footage will be recorded so I lowered it to low setting and periodically delete the older files through the app.
@Chemuzio-Ssir it does, but not on the emergency recorded videos or at least I think (I haven't found an option for it). Let me take another look at it and let you know.

Hello Angel, hmm I haven't really timed it but with a 128gb you do get decent amount of recorded hours. Also to note, keep you emergency record sensitive to low because if you set it high it will store it and you will run out of memory so it won't record new footages. I have it turned off now and if I do need it, I can just grab the SD and store the footage I need.
@@littlecube141 in that case you should be fine leaving it on low setting but remember, it has to be a fast card in order for it to record in 4k without any issues.

@@induction7895 I don't think there is 8k dash cam and if it is, it will be really expensive. Now when they advertise as 8k dash cam, it's usually combined resolutions. Meaning both front 4k and rear 4k camera. And again it's going to be priced higher. I think the one I got does it's job and pretty good for the price. Give it a try and if you don't like it, you could always return it. 😉
@@induction7895 haha I do know what you mean. I did have to get used to the rubber band feel of the simulated CVT transmission but after putting heavier tires, it kinda balanced it out. Check out my new tires and wheel video. I kinda mention it. But overall, I do like it and like it more as I drive more. It's a weird positive feeling when you drive out in it. 😃
Hi Erika, I just saw your comment. sorry, but hmm have you tried going into the menu and turning on the GPS function? I don't think it comes ON from the factory, if so maybe you should contact the seller for further help.
