What you are doing here as always is fabulous... What surprises me the most is that you are still running a Dell PC, I gave that up is 2005 and built my own to my own specifications. In the 1990's I didn't think much of AMD but my first and all builds afterwards were AMD. My latest although it will not do 8.0 on the rector scale was the 3400G by AMD, video is present in the processor 11 cores, and no video card required with the setup but you do need a board that will work with it. Runs my 4k monitor/TV 55 inch with zero issues at 60 frames. Oh the best part, running a 350 watt PSU. We are wasting allot of power in this world and especially with desktop computers. Hype is bigger the better with PSU's, not so in many cases unless you are running multiple high demand video cards. Start low and move up PSU wise, don't get hooked into the 1000 watt PSU game unless you really need it. Do the math on watts of everything you install, CPU, VIDEO if needed and not needed with the 3400G, HDD's/SSD, sys board, and fans... Do the math before you buy a PSU and pay for it with your electrical bill. Dell is OK but you are stuck with what they have to offer and upgrades are not there for the most part. Thoughts.

I bought my computer on Craigslist for $300.00. I needed something that could process video (render) at 4K my laptop with an I5 was barely cutting it with 1080P. My computer has Intel® Xeon(R) CPU X5680 @ 3.33GHz × 12, NVIDIA Corporation GK110B [GeForce GTX 780 Ti], 256GB SDD and a 1TB SATA drive (I am going to upgrade to 3TB as soon as I finish making videos requiring me to format it!) and it came with a 350 Watt G2 EVGA Supernova modular PSU (Gold Series). All in all it's a very decent video rendering machine at a very decent price. Rendering is done inside the video card with the 12 processors sharing the load. The video output performance does not matter in rendering it only matters in playback. I have a second [GeForce GTX 780 Ti] so I may spring for an SLI motherboard and upgrade it further. I am considering making a video on this system as it can be put together quite cheaply and does a very good job rendering 4K video. I also bought a 4K Samsung TV on Craigslist for $200 that I am using as a monitor and it works great! BTW a 1000 Watt PSU will only consume 1000 Watts if the computer system that it is hooked up too requires it. If your computer only requires 200 Watts that is what will be drawn from the PSU. But I agree, why pay for a beefy PSU if you are only ever going to draw a third of the current it can supply? Thanks for the video, Richard. However, the 2 TB limit is caused by your old USB-SATA adapter, it will show you the drive as 746GB. If you use a new one, you can use all 3 TB.

Just built a box for managing, diagnosing, imaging Hdds and ssds. Ive just set up the primary boot volume, using Hirens Boot Win 10 PE' on a 64gb ssd that was lying about, and I can confirm that this works a treat.

Not sure you are still viewing comments on this video but here goes anyway. Your instructions were clear and worked well for me. I have Hiren's Boot CD PE installed on a second HDD and works fine when selecting that drive from the BIOS boot menu. However, I am looking for a way to add Hiren's Boot CD PE to the startup menu from WIndows 10 that is installed on a separate SSD drive. It would be a nice to have but it works from the BIOS boot menu. Just a little usability enhancement when trying to do remote support.

I should add that this is an older PC and using MBR volumes (if that matters). The Hiren's HDD is a Toshiba 1T drive. The Windows 10 SDD is Samsung.

Windows PE was specifically designed not to be used as a permanent operating system. It will actually reboot it's self after 24 hours of up time and it resets to factory settings as a consequence. That is correct. PE looks like Win10 but if far more limited and is not a persistent environment. It will reset to the default original load on every reboot and it will reboot on it's own automatically after 72 hours of uptime. Windows PE is purposefully designed to not be persistent. Microsoft did not want it to be used as a regular operating system. They went so far as state that in their licensing agreement for it's use. So much so that the PE will will reboot it's self after 72 hours of continuous up time. So if you update Firefox that change will revert back to its original on the next reboot. If you wish to have a free operating system that runs Firefox and chrome and can be update as well as stays persistent and secure Linux will do that very well (I use Ubuntu) but are many flavors available to do the same thing. Nice video Richard. I tried Hiren yesterday on a Laptop after the latest Win Update broke my system. I thought I'd be able to unistall the update (via Hiren) but was unable to open the Programs & Features option in the Control Panel although most other ( but not all) options did open. So I'd like to know: Is it possible to uninstall an app/update via Hiren? Have u tried MediCat USB or Sergei Strelec's Win10PE and are they any better ?

I'm sure it's possible but it would most likely be a manual process of deleting files one by one and probably editing the registry, but if you are willing to put the work in I'm sure you can do it. Try different connecting cables if possible. If that does not work then remove the hard drives from the enclosures and mount them internally and see if they work. Hiren's 15.2 594 MB half a Gigabyte. It was meant to be run on 640MB CD ROM "remember those?" It's very small by today's standards and using it on a 4GB thumb drive would leave almost 3.5GB of free space even on that tiny drive. You can run Hiren's 15.2 on a thumb drive easily and there are many tutorials on how to do that too. Good luck.

Wonderful vid but the control panel stuff doesnt work from the hdd install... BUT if you created a proper ntfs fs using Linux you can find your local drive and create a new, correct control panel using - GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} ... type that exactly as a folder name and all controls work again...

Hi all. When I use the antivirus in Hiren's boot, it asks for update, the problem is the Boot(X:) partition doesn't have enough free space for the update despite the fact that I install it on a 32GB USB. How can I give it more space. please help me. thanks.

I have a Lenovo G450 29932 laptop that bios password is unknown and can only boot from a hard disk. Can I use HBCD PE to boot my laptop and after use special software to break the password? The laptop does not have CMOS battery or reset jumpers. Is there any other way to reset the password so that I can install OS the normal way/

There are tools to do this but most of the time they only work on very specific computers. You could consider buying the motherboard on eBay or even the whole laptop (they are pretty cheap) and taking they components out of yours and installing them in the new laptop or vice versa. @@richardlloydusa,I watched ot but his laptop is can also boot from USB whereas mine only from HDD. So what do you think of my idea using PLOP and swapping HDDs and USB thumb drives to get to finally boot HBCD? I did not get an answer from you about that but if that is too complicated or impossible can I instead take an HDD that fits in my laptop's HDD bay connector, attach it to the USB i/o of a working PC via a USB to HDD cable/dongle as an external drive and make it bootable with the HBCD staff using RUFUS, and once that is done transfer it back to the locked laptop and boot it directly from HDD, and once in the HBCD utilities try to crack the password as per the video you pointed out to me?

You may be able to install MS office in it and save a document but and it's a BIG point, Microsoft actually created this tool and they made sure that you can not functionally use it as a desktop OS. It will reboot it's self after 24 hours of continual use and erase all installed software and settings. This is programmed in and can not be undone. The tool does this on every reboot.
