Martin is doing another project!
He is putting Internet on the boat. We show what it took to add it to the boat and then at the end he talks about what we installed and why he didn't do Starlink. We also show what we are benchmarking in Puget sound, the San Juan Islands, and Canada in our Ranger Tug R27.
Here is our affiliate link to the website where you can buy our setup at.

Very nice and informative video.Thanks, Martin. FYI, Starlink question is addressed at 29:10, followed by a few internet speed benchmark result pics at various locations.

I enjoy your videos one comment on this video. When laying a bead of caulk, I mask off above and below the line to be caulked. Lay your caulk then smooth it out with a wet finger, allow to dry and remove tape, nice clean caulk lines

@Letsgochannelsurfing 2 года назад
Thank you for the feedback. I should have taped it for smother lines. I did, however, use water on my finger to smooth the caulk. I thought for sure that was in the video. But I looked and apparently, it wasn't. I've got a more detailed write-up, and a bunch of photos of the install at our website. The plastic glass sitting on the mast was filled with water for this purpose. www.letsgochannelsurfing.com/internet-for-the-boat?pgid=kxcpitky-1ec2b949-eefe-4d84-8ad6-8115d4903bd7

Another great video. I have enjoyed all your upgrades to the boat, question, have you ever figured the total cost of all your improvements?
@Letsgochannelsurfing
@Letsgochannelsurfing 2 года назад
Thanks Chuck! You bring up an interesting question, more of a philosophy one. The total cost of an upgrade obviously has a capital expense as well as an operational expense (installation). Doing my own work on my boat saves me thousands and thousands of dollars. I use that savings to invest in ideas for my boat. Our videos publish the results of hours upon hours of research, brainstorming, and failed ideas. I have a plethora of components I've purchased thinking I'd need them, to find out they weren't gonna work as I thought. Some items are still "new in the box". LaZina doesn't include any of that in the videos. Then there's also the list of special tools I've had to purchase to accomplish some of the installations. So for me to sit down and tabulate the cost of the upgrade isn't straightforward. As a result of all this, I actually pay little attention to the total cost of an upgrade. I think about the homeowner whose lived in a house for 15+ years, then puts the house up for sale and has to renovate the kitchen and/or bathroom for the next owner. As soon as my 1 year warranty on my boat was up it became upgrade-season for me. Get the boat set up as I want to use it. The upgrades have a soft-dollar amount to my family and I. They enable us to spend more time on the boat, as a result, we gain more value out of it. It's hard to put a price tag on that. My hope is that other boat owners are able to take what I've done and apply it to their boat. Hopefully saving someone else some failed implementations and a bunch of time researching trying to figure out how to fit something or upgrade something on their boat.

Hey Martin. Thanks for video. Can you list the brand and model names of the antenna, router, and other equipment used?

Thanks for watching!! I list all the specific equipment (router and antenna) on our website with additional details about the installation. LaZina's also put some more information on where we purchased it from in the description. www.letsgochannelsurfing.com/lte-wifi-tech-talk

Great job! Is there a less robust antenna that you’d recommend? I don’t think I need all the additional lines. What router did you go with?
@Letsgochannelsurfing
@Letsgochannelsurfing 2 года назад
Last season I used a Mobility 22G antenna. I mounted it inside the cabin. It's a 2xLTE 2xWIFI and 1xGPS. It's also a lot smaller. It worked well as well. The next video we're coming out with will go over all the details of the antenna and router. It was a Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5g (router). The previous router I used was a Peplink MAX BR1 MK2, which was a Cat6 LTE router.

Sorry for the likely dumb question but, is the mast you mounting the antenna on stock or aftermarket? I need one for our boat but, I do not know the correct term for it... Oh and thank you for the video.

Thanks for watching! That is the factory mast that came with the boat. I’ve not modified it in any way.
