Under the Pi Imager(v1.8.3), there is an option for “raspberry pi OS Lite(64 bit) and raspberry pi OS (Legacy, 64-bit) Lite. Which one? They “Legacy” version says “a port of Debian Bullseye” while the non legacy says “A port of Debian Bookworm”. Thanks.

hi mike, I'm using a MacBook, so far your instructions have been great. I have done everything up to changing the host name. Can I turn the terminal and the raspberry pie off? When i turn.the pi back on will I use my new host name to log in and will I use the new host name when I ssh from the terminal?

If I may jump in with a suggestion (before I've gotten 2 minutes in!): get rid of your auto gain -- play with setting your gain until you like it, because it's responsible for dropping to silence between words, which makes for the choppy listening. You're welcome.

having troubles with installing klipper code on to my raspberry pi via the imager. it all configures just fine however when i go to search up the ssh in cmd it simply does not work what am i doing wrong? any help much apretiated nice video btw it is very clear and easy to follow along with just this ssh seems to be stubern.

the audio of this video is really hard to follow, you've got a decent mic (looks like maybe a Blue Yeti knockoff?) but it's very far away from you and I can't tell what it's set to (sounds like maybe bidirectional or omnidirectional, should set it to cardioid and then put it right in front of you). Also it sounds like you're running it through some sort of noise reduction filter which is really compressing the audio and making it really hard to understand. Other than that the content itself is great- hope you get your audio issues sorted out if you haven't already

My guess is that your pi is not connected to your wifi. Check the config when you are flashing the pi. Raspian defaults to GB wifi. Of you are not in GB it won't work.

Very good tutorial and easy to follow. I've been running Octopi/Octoprint connected to my Ender 5+ for almost 3 years now. Just received my Ender 5 S1 and wanted to try using Klipper. You made it very easy to get installed. The only thing that didn't work for me is the installation of the recommended macros for Mainsail, the connection just kept timing out.

I accidentally bought an 8GB emmc CM4 and get stuck at installing fluid because i run out of space. only way for me to continue is to wait 2 months for a non emmc pi that isn't scalped or swap emmc modules which is the cheaper option. at first i was running into issues because i installed the GUI PI OS and had no room to install anything. Edit: i finally got octoprint installed by removing ffmpeg i dont have a camera yet so it was bloat ware. i bought a 128GB emmc chip to replace the 8GB later. should be able to install everything i want then.

@@minimal3dp it was really confusing when you installed all 3 web interfaces when only one was necessary. it took up extra space and made things difficult. i would have been fine with 8gb emmc. i ended up destroying my CM4 Pi... i bought a new lite version. wasted about $200 for the CM4, EMMC chip, and hot air station a hard lesson in researching what the f your doing before you do it. cheers!

Thank you so much for this video, though I am wondering if you can help me. I’ve done these exact steps time and time again, but I’m working with a CR10 and now only installing klipper, mainsail and moonraker I found somewhere that the cr10 uses hex files so I copied that as I did not have a bin. No matter what I do, I cannot get the MCU to be recognized by klipper, despite the “firmware restart” buttons restarts the pi and the cr10, so clearly it’s communicating. What the heck am I missing here? Any help would be so much appreciated

@@minimal3dp just a run of the mill cr10 v3. Atmega2650 from what I can find. I think I may have mixed the 5 and the 6 up typing that above idk. My coworker did it to one of these machines already, but his instructions are unclear. Yours are way better, but I still run into issues. It’s strange how with the config from the internet for the machine, the go to USB MCU value does restart the machine. It just doesn’t link to the cr10. I think the step where you create a firmware is where I am messing up. The step between creating the firmware, exporting to the SD and then rebooting the pi I think I may be screwing up.

You asked for feedback on your sound. If you use a compressor and enable the makeup feature as well as the default compression, you can maximize the volume while squashing any peaks during recording. I installed and get klipper work on ender 3 pro and out of the sudden my machine can't load up Klipper. I tried to reflash the printer firmware and and unable to flash klipper. i reverted back to Marlin and work. is the 64 bit raspberry pi convert the bin file has anything to do with it? I tried few times and wait or 15-20 min and still not work.

Are you using fluidd or mainsail? In mainsail you can download and look at the Klipper and moonraker log files. I would look at the log files and see if you see errors.

For your sound. The issue is that you have the mic too far away so you turn your gain way up to compensate so it picks up the booming in the room. Ideally you want the mic half way down your throat with the gain barely turned up. This cuts out all the background echo or booming. But since the mic is in the way of your videos you need to understand that all the professionals have the mic showing in their videos unless they wear a lapel mic.

When entering the password in Putty it keeps saying access denied despite both the user name and password being correct. I can login on Octoprint just fine but not on Putty. Do you have an idea for what is wrong?

@@Viper4441 it is a setting in Putty. Probably a in a drop-down menu. It is secure ftp. If you take a screenshot of your putty screen I can try to diagnose.

So far audio levels are a bit better than usual. You might want to up the gain on your input/mic a little more as it does still cut out a little bit when you’re speaking. Maybe rotate the mic to face you as well as moving it a bit closer may help as well. Keep up the great work. 👍

I can connect with the octoprint by selecting auto/ /dev/tty USB0 for the serial port. But not klipper and main sail. It gives MCU error. Should i change any config files?

Include file '/home/**********/printer_data/config/m3dp-klipper-macros/optional/bed_mesh.cfg' does not exist Once the underlying issue is corrected, use the "RESTART" command to reload the config and restart the host software. Printer is halted how do i fix this do i just make a conf blank

I don’t know if anybody will see this, but I was hoping someone could answer a couple questions. I have everything to do this done I’m pretty certain. Mainsail,fluidd,moonraker,klipper, octoprint, all on the pi. I did the firmware build and loaded it onto a mini sd. I cannot get it to flash. When I turn the power on to my printer it does absolutely nothing but turn on the red light on the skr mini e3 v3 board and the green light comes on when the sd card is inserted. Those are the only indications to me that it even has power. The fan on the power supply doesn’t even turn on. Did I create a bigger problem than the firmware flash somehow or am I just not flashing the firmware correctly?

When I started I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and wasn’t sure I’d be able to figure out how to do it I watched numerous videos prior to yours and got the idea to do this from a different video all together. Even though the one I got the idea from was great and explained how to do it very well IF you were a lot more knowledgeable and experienced than me. Luckily I came across these videos and you explained it way more thoroughly so that I was able to understand it easier. Thank you!! As soon as I get home I’ll copy what it says and post it. I think it basically says it can’t find it and to try again in a few moments. I just keep restarting and it never finds it. On the TFT 35 touch screen it also says no printer found. I didn’t have that hooked up at first as I wasn’t going to use it. I was going to use a waveshare hooked to the pi with klipperscreen.

I’m really really new to this. I had a friend at work sell me his broken Anet A8 for $20. Got it up & working and made my first print last night. Problem is I basically ran all stock settings in Cura. It definitely was printing to cold etc. I’ve learned a ton in the past 3 days but I’m still basically in total darkness.
