Hi Stuart, enjoying your videos so much I thought it would be a good idea to get a portapack with the O torch to get a consistent flame for all the reasons you say, but just got a quote from BOC that means paying roughly £20 a month just to rent gas bottles - which makes no sense if I only use it occasionally to weld lead - so the alternative appears to be disposable gas bottles with a cheaper torch.. what's your view of the cheaper kits, or is there a way to own your own bottles and get them refilled when necessary, or will BOC not allow that? If anyone else has a solution would be pleased to hear it. Thanks.
Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply. Rather than using BOC. You can get the cylinders from places like Hobby weld. Then you don’t need to pay the rental. Or you get something like the ProGas 5000 kit. This uses disposable gas and comes with a model O torch.
