hey! I've been wondering if there's a way to install leds, without having to use a relay or messing with the high beam wiring of the bike. Can I just go straight to the battery and istall a swith to operate the led lights completely independent from the stock ones? would you recommend to install a fuse too? cheers!

Hi David. I don't know the exact output, but at the end of the day it is only charging the battery so as long as you aren't using those things all the time the battery will cover the peaks and troughs.

Hey great channel! I'm in the USA and the Himalayan is being imported later this spring/ summer. I hate oil coolers and on this bike it seems to be a weak point. I was able to remove the cooler on my 06 triumph scrambler and route the oil line to the frame tubes. This gave me an extra liter of oil capacity and kept temps the same. Any idea if the RE frame tubes are suited to a mod like this?
@DangarMotorcycling

Hey Anthony. I really like that idea, but I'm not sure about the frame. Sounds well worth investigating though.

I am not sure about the mounting of lights. The are gonna move a hell lot with the front fork slider. Could you have placed them on the upper part of fork which doesn't move? Maybe positioning the bracket upside down would work. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, I've been following your channel and I've also bought a Himalayan. I was wondering, do you have any experience or have found any heated grips solution for the bike? Also, do you have any issues running your LED lights, considering that the generator on the Himalayan is probably limited to what it can output. I am now running a Garmin Zumo unit off the battery and have some doubts weather or not the bike can actually power all these things simultaneously (i.e LED lights, USB outlet, heated grips, GPS unit, etc.) Thanks!
@markhorton7013

I have plenty of accessories (Oxford Heated Grips, Usb Charger with a twin output for charging my SatNav/phone, 2 x LED spotlamps & Gerbing Heated gloves for my wife - she feels the cold bless her) on my bike (A Versys 1000) and like you I need to know my battery is not going to die on me through lack of power output from the alternator, so I installed a voltmeter on the dash from good ol' fleabay. Quite cheap and it's brilliant. I run a pretty constant 14.5v and as I power on each accessory I see a small drop in the voltage but even with them all powered on I still achieve 13.8v. It's confidence inspiring knowing I can monitor the health of my charging system and the battery irrespective of what accessories I'm running. Likewise It's nice to get a heads up if something is going wrong.

Is there any problem by grounding the ground from relay and lights to bikes body, any metal nut like that istead of giving it to battery negative?

How's your experience of having the Royal Enfield Himalayan? I'm planning on buying the euro 4 spec version but have heard a hell lot of negative reviews and magneto coils and ignition coils failing often. Should I consider this as my next motorcycle or look elsewhere? Reply would be much appreciated :)
@DangarMotorcycling
@DangarMotorcycling 6 лет назад
Hi Akshay, I'm loving the bike so far. It's comfortable, in handles well on-road and off-road, it looks great, it is affordable. I too was worried before buying it but now I would just say go for it. You may have a problem that needs solving down the track, but that is life. RE have been doing a great job of fixing any problems so I would wouldn't be worried. I haven't had a single issue myself.

Hey man, I've really been enjoying your videos. I'll be fitting some LED's to my Himalayan this weekend. Does anyone know the power of the alternator on the BS4 UK? Can it handle loads of accessories? Heated grips/ seat, USB charging, LED spot lights etc. Keep up the good work!

@@DangarMotorcycling I never did find out but I have fitted the 40 watt LED's, heated hand grips, USB charger and a heated seat pad. Using all these accessories the battery is still being charged well as far as I can tell. After sitting for a week the bike starts no problem.

Hello , I was earlier taking the connection directly from the ignition wire but now I did the same configuration what you have done. The intensity of the fog lamps has decreased lot. Did you face the same?
@DangarMotorcycling
@DangarMotorcycling 5 лет назад
No, if anything it should be brighter going through the relay. I would check all the connections. Sounds like there is some high resistance somewhere causing a reduction in current flow.

Hi mate, so far I am really happy with the bike. I think there were some problems in the early days but these seem to be getting sorted out. The export models also seem to be built using all the latest parts to enhance the Royal Enfield reputation over seas. If this bike got stolen I would buy another one straight away if that tells you anything. :)

Personally I prefer crimped connections. A proper crimp connection is always better than a soldered one. With a soldered connection you create a stiff part in a flexible copper wire. When you ride along the whole car or bike vibrates, and this causes the copper to work harden. It'll take many many many many years but eventually the wire will break right at where the solder starts. So whenever I need to splice wires, I cut them in half, put a bulled connector on each end and just add an extra wire to one of the bullet connectors before crimping. Then connect the connectors and heat shrink around it.
@DangarMotorcycling
@DangarMotorcycling 6 лет назад
Interesting point about the work hardening. The main reason that I solder is that with all the salt air around here I find that the soldered connections are more resistant to corrosion, but the heat shrink does help a fair amount with that.

So many people complain about lack of quality in bikes when half of them have never owned and cared for one. I guess riding is all about revving nowadays.
