I have taken a 2 to 3 foot length of small diameter aircraft cable and created a loop on each end with hourglass swage connectors. You run one end through your D-ring, then through the opposite loop, then put Honda's locking bar through that end and lock the bar into the locking slot. With this system you can also lock 2 helmets with the same cable and have them sit upright on the seat.

Nice idea. The problem with helmet locks where I live is that the thieves cut the strap and steal your helmet so they can take the communicator at their leisure. Not only do you lose your helmet but you are stranded because it is illegal to ride without a helmet. That's why I always carry my helmet with me.

Yeah, it's impossible to simply remove the communicator and lock it in your trunk. Too much hassle.

Max installed these when I did my suspension....very good product. I've also added them to crash bars on my ADV bike to be able to lock up my helmet.

For years I’ve had on all,y bikes the Helmet Guardian. Mainly because I bought them many decades ago and just re-mount them on any/all new purchases. This model mounts at your license plate and what I like was it’s out of the way and site when I park at event and places. My Riding Buddies have had their helmets vandalized and messed with at events just due to being rite there as a waste bucket up high and easily spotted. I guess I’ve been lucky since mine hang way down mostly out of site 🤷‍♂️

What about the twinart passenger Switch accents 345 … does that stick over the cover on the bike or does the cover come off…. Instructions don’t say either or… please help

The challenge with these helmet locks is that many helmets have ratchet style closure vs d-ring. Have you seen any solutions for those? I use my trunk to store my helmet, but then can’t store anything else.

Lidlox come with a helmet hangar that works on All helmets. The helmet hangar slides through the female side of the clip.

I tried the LID Lock on my 2018..I found there was more handlebar vibration at higher speeds with the LID Lock because there is much less mass and weight to damp out any vibration in the handlebars than with the OEM handlebar dampers. I removed the LID Lock after one road trip.

There is a bar end weight you can add to your Gold Wing Lidlox. Lidlox item 1067 for the single or 1068 for the pair.

Good idea, I have seen them around for a while now. Unfortunately, I have the Goldstrike grips, so no use to me.

The Kit for Gold Strike grips is Lidlox item 1065 for the single and 1066 for the pair.

Of course there is a difference on the weight of the OEM handlebar weights and the lidlox weights. This will affect somehow the stability of the handle bar.

I have had LidLox on my 2018 for more than 2 years and I cannot tell any difference.

@@cruisemansgarage Some people are more sensitive to the handlebar vibration than others..just as some feel the the heat from the radiators and some don't. The 2018 plus models are not quite as smooth as the old model as it is..reducing the weight and mass of the handlebar dampers was very noticeable for me...in fact, I installed aftermarket handlebar dampers that are larger heavier than the OEM handlebar dampers to smooth out the handlebar vibs even more than the OEM handlebar dampers did...my 2018 is now as smooth as my 2003 was.

@@cruisemansgarage You can purchase the weighted spacers from Lidlox also. These are installed between the end of the bar and the Lock. I did this on both handlebar ends of my 2018+ Goldwing so that the helmet is locked a little further out from the body work. It probably will help to dampen some of the vibration as well.

What's to prevent someone from just unscrewing the lock mechanism from the bike? Looks like you can just unscrew the lock then unscrew the Allen bolt and take all of it.

You need both tools and the keys to unscrew the locks.

The handle bar helmet locks are great if you like catching rain water in your helmet.I live in a no helmet state,but choose to wear one.For the last 12 years I've set my helmets usually on the seat and have never had one stolen. Probably because its a no helmet state and no one wants the helmet is my guess............

Chris, I put my full-face helmet on the seat, right side up, with the stock Honda T-bar. That keeps it off the paint and less likely to collect rain water. The bar-end helmet lock wouldn't work for me because I like to lock my handlebars when I park.

@@cruisemansgarage I was going to be sarcastic yet again but instead I'll tell you that you can use Honda's seat lock tab with a cable pistol lock like you get with a Glock to secure you're helmet on the seat so it won't collect rain..I keep one in my saddle bag when traveling..Of course if someone wants your helmet bad enough they'll get it.....
