Installing MariaDB The MYSQL Alternative 

1st Some hosting providers will not allow you to connect to certain ports of your system. Port 3306 is one of those ports not allowed. So you can use any other available port for MYSQL other than 3306. 2nd Also, if a hacker wanted to mess with your system and they know you are using MYSQL on it, they would try to get in on that port since it's well known. 3rd The last reason is connected to the first: You can setup a Song Request system for your station but the request php files need to connect to your system via the ports MYSQL is using.

The music is never stored in MYSQL nor MAriaDB. Those databases only store data as to where the files are located and categories and events.

If you already have MYSQL installed, there would be no need for MariaDB
