Installing New Spotlights On A Land Rover Discovery | Wheeler Dealers 

Might want to check the legality of the way those spotlights are wired. If the lights/bulbs aren't certified for road use you CANNOT have them wired into a vehicles standard lighting system. You MUST fit a separate switch so that you can only activate them off-road. Failure to do so is an MOT fail or a fine, depending on whether it's a pedantic MOT inspector or cop who you're talking to. On a practical note, it's not neccesarily wise to link spotlights directly to your main-beams either. There might be times when you'll want to use your main-beams without the spots or (less likely, admittedly) you'll want to use the spots without turning on your main-beams. At the very least, I'd suggest fitting a dashboard switch between the feed from the main-beams and the relay for the spots. That way you can disable the spots and use the car's standard lights on their own. Ideally, it's probably simpler to fit an independant switch to activate the spots so you retain complete control of when all your lights are in use.

interesting - Ed might have just done this for the show - but this D1 has a headlamp wiring loom he could have plugged straight into to add the aux lights - factory did that for this purpose - add a switch inside next to the cruise control and "Bob's Your Uncle" not mine
