Thanks for sharing I was planning on doing the exact same thing this summer. Still need to buy the drill press and decide between aluminum or vinyl.

Great job keep it up But if I can suggest you hold your phone sideways when your shooting video that way when you upload it it will be full screen just a thought

I hate videos shot with the phone held vertical.

I don't like vertical videos either and I'm sorry for this one. I took some quick video for someone that had questions and didn't plan on making an actual tutorial video to upload. When I was asked to upload it, I put together what I had since I can't go back and reshoot it.

Use a step drill bit. Cleaner holes.

So was it easier mounting the J Channel BEFORE putting the lights in it? Seems like inserting the lights may have been easier on the ground.

Both aluminum and vinyl J channel are flimsy. If you add the weight of pixels to a 10' stick of j channel, it will twist and/or bend easier. When aluminum j channel bends, it's hard to straighten or reshape back to normal. It's also easier to hold up to mount. And the pixels aren't going to fit perfectly with 50 or 100, you'll have 29 in one piece and 62 in another depending on the length of sections you cut, so now you have multiple pieces to hold on to while trying to mount them. For me, it was easier to mount the 90-100 feet of j channel first, then push the pixels.

I was all about precision and spacing when making the trim pieces. Please share your instructions on how-to without a jig or a drill press. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas to save time.
