Here's a little longer version of Part 8 in my series walking through various elements of my holiday lighting show and setup. In 2020, I stepped up to a permanent custom solution for my eaves. These remain up all year long! In this extended cut, I show my jig for consistently drilling the J-channel and you can see how I mounted it.
Parts and construction: I used vinyl J-Channel (TimberCrest "Sandstone" J-Channel perfectly matched my painted eaves) that I drilled myself using a drill press (with a jig I built for consistency). I tested both 2" and 3" pixel spacing and ended up using 3" pixel spacing. These are mounted under my eaves with 3M Double-Sided Scotch Permanent Outdoor Tape. It holds super strong, and since these are under my eaves, they won't be hit with any direct weather (rain or snow). For over a year, they've held flawlessly.
