Very helpful. You explain it so well! I keep seeing instructions to nail in molding... but no diagrams or description on how to do it until I saw your video.
How did I not know what a nail set is? I have a door frame that has been sitting in my garage to replace an old one, waiting until either I had the funds to invest in a pin nailer, or I could borrow one from somebody. It has literally been YEARS. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money for this ONE project, as I do not foresee ever needing a pin-nail gun again in my life. THANK YOU!!!
I would pre-drill the nail holes to ensure no cracking, depending on the density of the wood. Nice quarter round sadly on some nasty looking baseboards. Additionally, I would use wood filler over latex to fill the nail holes. Does a much better job.
Glad you found it helpful! If you have access to a nail gun it will make the process go sooo much faster but I had been to Home Depot about 20 times by this point and another trip for a nail gun (and more money) was not in order. Haha!
Exactly what I needed! Now to find what I can use if I don’t have that special nail driver thing.... I’m thinking about using a bigger nail. Might need to dull the tip....

I'm new to this and had to spend a lot of time - all day, cutting and coping molding to fit snug and buying power tools, compressors and extra doodads. There is a point of diminishing returns. Your cut is behind the door. No one is really going to notice. You did great.

Suggest you don't choke up so far on the hammer handle. Hold it lower, and let the hammer do the work - when you try to "force" the hammer to pound the nail, you miss a lot more. Practice on a scrap board before doing the finish work. Happy DYI'ing!
