Morning Matt, why you not - show the strap fitting . would you have to grind a flat spot on the starter housing to make it fit ?they use to sell a strap for engine cases to keep the crank from falling out on the street like me Neighbor Waine did .the cop said - (if you dont clean it up , You are going to get a ticket ) = engine life 216 miles!!!
The strap is a waste of time to install. If I get the trans case to move enough that the four bolts pull out, then I would already have a broken ring and pinion. That's why Ron Lummus and Berg don't even waste there time with it.
Just get all the bolts in before you tighten any thing up. Also tighten the front mount first. If you tighten the real first then the front, it can pull on the intermediate housing causing a leak.
@@MattLundquistVW One more question. What do you think about the solid mount as far as vibration goes. I am building my bug mostly for the track but I will drive it to the grocery store once in a while. I have a pretty nice 2176 going in it. Any regrets with the solid mount vs bushings? Thanks.
@@mostlycars7586 on long trips the solid mounts get annoying real quick. If you have a pretty radical clutch and drive in town you'll feel every bit of chatter that the clutch gives you. For my next project I will use Gene Bergs HD rubber mounts. The main thing is to be honest with yourself if it is a track only car that goes to the ice cream store every now and again then solid mounts may be right up your alley but if it's mostly a car that you drive that you take to the track every once in awhile I would go with some really solid Gene Berg mounts not urethane.
