Here is a video detailing the install of a 360 Siphon waste tank vent cover. It should help prevent nasty sewer odors inside the RV.
It creates a negative pressure in the tank that draws up any waste tank gases so they can't seep into the RVs living area.
The install was very simple, I just had to remove the original vent and cut the vent pipe stack down a bit. It needs to sit about 5/8th of an inch above the roof plane to fit properly. Then reseal it with some Dicor lap sealant.

Quick tip for cutting plastic pipe in weird positions. Take a hose claim like a radiator hose clamp and clamp it to your pipe and it works as a good guide for the blade.

good choice on this vent. This vent is now OEM on a lot of RV's. I will be changing all three of my vents.

Hope you'res works better than mine. I replaced a spinner vent with the 360 vent and had serious odor issues. I put a new spinner on and all is good again. Good video!

I thought that if I ever got an RV this would be one of the first upgrades. I purchased a Rockwood GeoPro and this vent cap comes standard on all GeoPro's now. It must be good.

Great video! We are long term in our TT and have problems when we run the AC with the gray tank open. It began at the end of last summer. No problems at all during cooler months with no ac. I have snaked vent pipes, hosed them out, cleaned gray and black tanks often, but the odor only happens with AC on and Gray tank open. This means I have to empty it every day, rain or shine because of dishes and baths. Considering trying 360 siphon on gray vent first. Odor seems to come from sink and not AC itself, so this may be the answer if AC is not the culprit pulling in vent odors.
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 8 лет назад
That's an odd one. The 360 would be a help as it sucks out the odors better so less odor in the tanks. Check out this post for another possible cause - www.loveyourrv.com/bad-smell-coming-rv-sink/ If you figure it out let me know, always interesting in fixes. Cheers Ray

Thanks, Ray. I changed the one under the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink soon after the smells began. No help there. I did put wet sponges in the kitchen sink, both sides, to let water through, but keeps odors from coming back up. Smell is indeed coming from sink when AC is on, but sponges (cut to fit) actually stopped it. I will order the 360 siphon for gray tank vent and give it a try. Thanks so much!

One note - you should never leave your holding tanks open, even if you are full time. Allowing water to build up in your tanks is important in ensuring you don’t have sludge build up in your tanks.

I temporarily live in my dads 1984 Southwind moho and it is parked under a tent tarp. (I think that's what its called). This is only temporary. I am saving to buy a house so I don't want to sink a lot of money into it. It completely covers the motorhome. Down half to the side windows. About 5 ft above the top. Obviously this will cause a pocket of gas. Would this work if I put a fan on the roof to blow it out?

We have had smells a few times but it's pretty rare and most of the time I use little if any tank deodorants unless it's hot out. If I do add any I like the Happy Campers stuff Cheers, Ray

Hello Ray, is there any issues with odors outside the camper....like maybe smelling something when your sitting around the campfire?
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 8 лет назад
No, the new 360 vents have worked great. We are at around 50 straight days of boondocking right now and sit outside often. I think they work well by constantly circulating the tanks air where normally the air is trapped in the tanks and very once in a while might burp all at once out very stinkily. ;) I'm sure on some RVs they might not work as well as the ventilation systems and vent placements are so varied but I can say they have worked really well on ours. Even when I dump I don't smell much.

Wouldn't it be better if they had electrically operated extraction fans instead of these vents?
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 5 лет назад
I don't think they would work much better, just be more complex and draw power when off the grid.

Very good. I added the second one in December and boondocked almost exclusively for 3 months time. With the new 360 vents and using Happy Campers - amzn.to/1WjvIXL in the tanks I had virtually no odor, even though the waste was quite concentrated since we were trying to conserve water.

Love Your RV "This one is suppose to work better than the original for removing the waste gases from the tanks. " Works better? So there are occasions when an odor from your black tank gets into your R/V which have the standard vent caps or was this just an up grade just in case?
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 9 лет назад
rick dees I find that it is the gray tanks worse than the black since they use P traps, black is OK as long as the toilet seal is doing it's job. Sometimes when traveling and the tanks are fairly empty. I think what happens is the water in the P traps gets washed out from the movement and then the tank gases can seep up, we usually deal with it by putting our drain plugs in before traveling but sometimes forget. When we do we have a nasty odor sometimes when we first arrive until we run some water down the pipes. I think vent will help that issue.

jeez. my grandfather had some water damage on the walls and floor of our old 94 Fleetwood because the top of the slide-out was wet. it can be tragic. the inside of the door also completely rotted. the seal on it was gone after all of those years. you learn a lot from 18 years of rving hahaha.

Yes, when we are on full hookups with access to lots of water I don't even use tank chemicals and we don't have any odor issues, so I think they must be working well. The white colored plastic has yellowed a bit but doesn't seem brittle.

You did a very sloppy job of not removing the old lap sealant, and cutting the pipe jagged and sloping not even. Then dumping more sealant without thoroughly cleaning up the area with alcohol. Very poor job all around. This is how NOT to install the vent. You do not glue the vent to the rubber roof with sealant, yikes! The correct way to do this: 1. Clean up the gunk. COMPLETELY. 2. Use alcohol to scrub the clean FLAT rubber roof area with a stiff brush and wipe down well. 3. Mark the existing holes with a pencil in outward lines. 4. Install Butyl tape all around the pipe to act as the sealant. You do not want to put lap sealant here and do not want to glue down this vent. Wrong! Butyl tape will press down and seal it up while also make it easy to remove later. 5. Using the pencil markings which extend past the butyl tape, line up the vent screw holes. 6. Add a dab of Dicor Lap Sealant to one hole at a time, and screw down the vent cover, flat against the rubber roof. Dab, screw. Dab, screw. Not all at once. 7. Cover each of the screws with another dab of Dicor Lap Sealant. Put ring of Dicor Lap Sealant around the edge of the vent cover to seal out any moisture going underneath. Dab any other holes or exposed parts to the roof lining. Done.
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV 4 года назад
I didn't use glue, I used Dicor Self Leveling Lap Sealant which remains flexible on a warm day peels away quite easily like bubble gum, not glue. I prefer not to remove the old Dicor sealant and rather just clean it up. I feel removing it can lead to a risk of damaging the rubber roof material. New Dicor sealant can be applied over old Dicor sealant, see here on Dicor channel - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qvQKJiatP-g.html The pipe being jagged functionally means nothing and you don't even see it. Cheers, Ray
