Good call on wrapping the sisal rope all the way up the main trunk. I was skeptical about that much rope being necessary, then I saw Bubbles stretching to scratch. Happy cat!

Hey Steve! I'm confident you're right about speeding through the screw-driving into plywood. Going quickly with the 2-1/2" screws gives the thread a cutting motion through the plywood. Going slow would likely decrease that slicing motion, instead just pushing the plies apart. I'm so glad you mentioned this though, because I've noticed that problem too, and never really thought about it before! Thanks!

When you first mentioned the platforms and cat tree, I have to admit that I thought that it would never really work, but you have pulled it off! This tree is legit. I'm not a cat guy and I actually like it.

Steve - its been a long haul for all of us, no-one ever expected it, and we seem unfortunately to be sliding backwards. On our cat tree each end of the sisal rope is secured with a big staple (in addition to the glue). So just that it does not unwind... Love your vids, I am not a complete beginner to the woodworking but I always learn something new from you! Thank you!

You were right, Kittisaurus is well done

The trick to driving a screw without having to worry about it binding or separating the pieces is to drill two different sized holes. The hole in the back piece should be small enough for the screw to catch in while the front piece should have a hole large enough for the screw to slide through (but obviously small enough to not let the head pass through). This is an old technique that I think I learned about from my grandfather. Unfortunately it does take a bit more time because you have to drill two holes but it makes a better joint.

Hi there Steve, to clamp the corner piece you could counter it with another smaller triangle and clamp that one using two clamps. One vertical and one horizontal. It's a bit tricky, but it should work.

Now that my cats have seen this they have informed me they now feel totally neglected. Apparently I will need to take your woodworking courses so I can up my catification game. Seriously I am working overtime on my job to pay for the courses, tools and supplies so I can get started soon. I have the workshop and just need the tools and know how. I am excited to learn. It makes putting in the OT worth it! So glad I stumbled across your channel.

I like the 'Impressed cat video' channel. It's a Japanese fellow who visits the various cat islands in Japan, or maybe just the one? I'm not sure exactly, but he just walks around and pets the strays. It's quiet and delightful.

just a little tip for wrapping something in rope.....spin the piece as you go instead of going round and round the stationary piece....

The cat speech bubbles (pun intended, even if it was Cobra) were perfect...

Just a word of advice on the sisal rope... only put the glue on each end and the middle. It’s going to be HELL replacing that rope when it gets shredded! We have found that out the hard way!

Yas! I love Kittisaurus and Jackson Galaxy! I discovered your channel a few days ago and binged every lockdown video. You being a cat daddy is a great surprise. I’m thinking of starting little projects because of this channel. I’m hopeful to get started soon.

I use the Elmer's spray adhesive when I wrap the twine around for our cat trees. It holds well and goes on quicker then the hot glue gun.

I have also become addicted to Kittisaurus and LuLu

I wouldn't worry about having to wrap with sisal. I'm putting an addition on my house and the cats can climb a 2x4 straight up to get to the attic.

I came across that channel while back. What a small world.

I realize house cats are not barn cats, but barn cats can easily jump quite high due to their being used to running and jumping a lot more just to get around in the barn, etc. So I would not worry too much about your cats not being able to get up there, if they really want to, they will work at it and do it. :) Same for the rope or tree...if they have claws they will climb up on the wood to some extent. Though I realize most trees have bark that may be softer than the wood inside....cats get stuck in high trees due to climbing up with their claws and jumping, so your indoor cool cat park should be a breeze once they get used to it. :)

I love how your not sure if the cats can climb up it. We keep the cat food on the top of a washing machine so the dog doesn't eat it. One jump, no problem. The best I've seen is one jump to the top of the refrigerator. She did have to wiggle her tail up a bit before that one though. :)

( ﾟ▽ﾟ)/ Also, best if you notice a desperate "help me"-meow from your cat which you find like almost 2 meters above ground, hanging in the curtains that it climbed up for whatever unknown reason and then being stuck there.. So yea, don't worry about how a cat goes up, that usually is the last thing that cannot happen. Worry more about how the cat can go back down again....

I think when you drive the screws fast, they kind of drill their way in, but when you drive them slowly they can't drill and the plywood breaks. And one more thing ..... Bubbles and Cobra deserve their own RU-vid channel! I want to see them more and more, preferably in every video :D and Where did your beard go? ;)

Love the tree! And glad to see your cats do too....ya’ never know with cats...they’re like kids. You THINK you know what they will like or do and then, they might just as often, prove you wrong. About cat channels, besides the cats(and dog), this channel shows some great cat furniture that is really nice....stuff not available in the US, but that could provide ideas for woodworkers. It’s “MilkyBokiTan”.

I watch Kittisauraus, as well as her other channels Cream Heroes and Clair Luvcat. And of course I watch the Cat Daddy himself, Jackson Galaxy. I also also watch a new channel called Ununami Daily Life. Two black and white sisters that like to romp around the house. Don’t worry about making it too easy for the cats to climb - they WILL get to those landings. As soon the fires and smoke go away ( I’m in an evac warning zone), I will be trying out the Weekend Woodworker on my new tablesaw!

The cats will go from the window up to the tree, same as how bubbles came down. Jackson galaxy is great. We watched a few years of his show. Proper littler box, something to do and place of their own.

Honestly loving the catification series, I've been thinking of making my dog a deck type thing to be able to look over the fence but I'm not sure my neighbours want to be spied on by a small black dog at all times
