Cheap homesteading is working on his Massey 231. He is putting the crank and connecting rods in a Perkins 152. He is going to check the rod and main bearings with plastic gauge.
Were the inside and outside thrust washers different sizes? When I received the reliance thrust washer set that matches my build number, both the inside and outside were the same size. The inside and outside washers I took off during the engine disassembly were different sizes. The set I received seems to only work for the inside. Thanks!
JUst bought a new a3.152 long motor. It came with a strict warning not to double click the torque wrench. It seems this increases the torque above the set value.
Can the crank bearings be changed without tearing the motor completely down? I have a mf245 that is losing oil pressure after 30 minutes. I am going to do a complete rebuild after the shop is built, but need the tractor to finish building the shop.
You should be able to do it. Remove the oil pan. Loosen off the mains off and remove one cap at a time and roll the old bearing out with the crank and roll the new one in by turning the crank in. Make sure you check with plastic gauge after. And check that the crank is OK. Have a good one
