Great walk-thru. At 12:01, the brass ring of the antenna mount - the black o-ring is supposed to be on the bottom, it seals the connector. When you flip the ring over, you'll see two flats that allow the ring to be tightened up with a crescent wrench. Nice product line, will be ordering soon.
Great video. Would be nice to see details of how and where you mounted the bracket under the dash. Also, two questions about the antenna mount: 1. Why did you choose to mount the antenna on the passenger side next to the radio antenna rather than on the driver's side? 2. Any issues with water intrusion where the antenna wire comes out to the bracket (at 11.13)?
1. Personal choice. Doesn't really matter what side it is on. Whatever you think is best. 2. Sorry I did not get a better view of this going under the dash. The 275 goes right up there with our bracket and bolts in place through the holes on the 2 support rails. Pretty easy to do when installing. Dry fit it and it is pretty self explanatory.
Why did you leave the inline fuse in and then run it to a fused switch? You can also run the antenna wire under the cowl cover instead of zip tie to power cables inside the hood.
I could not get this bracket to work. I watched a few RU-vid videos featuring the use of this bracket, and everyone else had success. I made sure my radio mount was oriented correctly and that the extension cable was out of the way, but could not get the bolts to thread through the captive nuts on your bracket. The angle of the bracket and the angle of the dashboard support frame were not identical. Are you supposed to bend the bracket? Should we use longer bolts? They don't seem long enough to even reach the captive nuts. I'm going to try one more time, but if I cannot get it to work, may I get my money back?
Coiled antenna wire is not good, it creates an inductor and can create issues with both reception and transmission. It can also increase SWR higher then it should be. Just an FYI!
@@RebeccaTiffany1 many different antennas are awesome… I was just pointing out it’s not good to coil the antenna cable. You can buy different lengths of cable with the NMO antenna or the SO239 antenna connector. Personally I cut my cable to length and soldered on a new connector, but not everyone is able to do this.
