So when I do get the replacement controller, this video gives me a bit of 'orientation' ... not that I'll be confident in what I must do, but I get to figure it out and learn it. And am mighty thankful for your channel and interest in working with those of us who share your interest for this bike! I couldn't do it without you/it. I wanted THIS bike, and that means I have to learn at least some of, what you readily know and can do. I was on the fence between this, the Fiido T1 and going with the Heybike Ranger. It probably would have been 'easier' for me. I found your channel and it offered me the 'know how' I felt I would need to get THIS bike, the T1. I love it's design, integrated, not spoke wheels, it's only about 10 lbs heavier (than the folding Ranger), to have the cargo racks installed meant the folding feature to the Ranger wouldn't be applicable. I wanted the usefulness of the cargo racks and utility features for hauling that the T1 has. One step at a time. Learn and do ...

It'll be simple... take out the battery... take off the battery rail... take off the two covers on the controller box... I took a picture of the wiring before I disconnected it. There will be one set of wires that does not get used.... Just fold them back so you don't try to plug them into anything. The wires are color coded, just use your reference photo if you are unsure. Put the battery rail back on temporarily and test.... If everything is working fine put the covers back on and wedge the controller in. I'm anxious to get you on the road! Lol

@@TornadoGarden Alright, took a screen shot of that, for later and ease of reference. Sounds simple enough ... bullet point, step by step. Aw I kNo it, right? Fingers crossed 🤞 the Controller is the 🎟 ticket!!! ✊️👊 👍

UPDATE! I've received the replacement T1 and I received a 250w motor. But in reality it is a 750w motor. It has been confirmed by fiido factory. The power is exactly the same and the kick as well. The only difference is on Pas, much smoother and it can only go up to 25km/h on Pas 3 even when unlocked. Overall I do prefer this version to the last one. Plus, if you change the lcd to the old one it doesn't change to the characteristics of the old one, you really have to change the controller as this gentleman is doing. Funny part, my new bike came with a dead lcd xD but fiido sent me a new one. I got to say that fiido support has been very helpful with all my bad luck.

I think they did a good job, stepping up and providing the replacements.

Only 25km/h after unlocking?! That’s crazy slow. I was hoping to pull the trigger on the new t1 pro but thought I would get at least 40km/h

After watching a dozen or more videos on this bike, it looks as; if one were to order a factory new bike from Fiido right now, they come with the slower and smoother controller with no way to attain the pre-recall performance without getting a different controller? All of the other quirks it may have are easier and less annoying to deal with, but that lower speed and torque worry me.
@TornadoGarden
@TornadoGarden Год назад
It is better on the battery and range.....but the T1 lite, from pre-recall specs and old display were faster. Illegal, torquey, and fun... ;)

@@TornadoGarden Damn, that's pretty much a deal killer there, for me anyway. The controller seems to be more the limiting factor, as some seem to think that the new motor, labeled as 250w, is identical to the 750. But thats still hit or miss.
@TornadoGarden
@TornadoGarden Год назад
@@outrider212 I'm sure mine was only marked 250 because it was a replacement. UK sales are greater than US and that's what they had on hand.

The brains of the operation are always the display... The controllers were identical. They only send the power requested by the display.

@@TornadoGarden Hmm, my question then is, are there 3rd party displays out there one could use to alter the bikes performance?

I got the new controller and a new throttle gear shifter / cable, they sent ... it took me a week to 'face the music' ... the hardest part to switching out the controller was that larger white capped connector box, it did not want to release... I finally got some help and took it all from there myself. I got the controller switched out, set it in the housing and slipped the battery back in, turned it on, keeping fingers crossed that the throttle/ shifter piece would be golden. Nope. Error code still on the display. Not sure how to get that shifter piece off the handle bar ... is it gonna require the handgrip to be removed first? 😢 There's still plenty of snow and cold, so the down time isn't really 'counting'. However I'm doing my best to keep my spirits up --that once I figure out how to switch out the throttle / shifter (with black connector and wire cable), that THAT DOES THE TRICK. Any videos you know of, for a visual on this task? If not I think I know of someone whose help I can enlist. I want to do it myself. And I really am ready to be done 'FIXING my NEW bike, and to be able to get to riding! 👍🙌

I haven't had to remove my shifter... I will take a look at the mechanism, but it must loosen, even if just enough to slip off the bar end. You are being very patient. Someday you'll get to ride! Oi!

Do all the new T1’s have 250w motors? Or is this something you specifically changed yourself for some reason. Thanks for the help
@TornadoGarden
@TornadoGarden Год назад
All T1's come with 750w motors. I got a replacement bike because I had a frame recall with my original T1 lite. It came with a motor that was marked 250w. According to Fiido it is mismarked (intentionally) for sales in the UK and elsewhere, where 250w is the max allowed by law. Based on the performance difference, I suspect the UK version to be an overclocked 250w motor receiving 750w, as the controller and display are identical.

@@TornadoGarden "overclocked" 250w ? What does that mean?
@TornadoGarden
@TornadoGarden Год назад
@@SteffiReitsch If it is actually 250w max rated and you push 750w through it. Like running your PC processor above recommended voltage. Only replacement bikes came with these motors.

OK so you've used the old controller with the new 250w motor and it will go 40 but it doesn't have the same juice as the 750w? Humm, so maybe it's not a 750w motor with a 250w label as they say 😅🤦‍♂️ Shady fiido

Top speed is better with the original electronics. 47kph. The new configuration is better on battery, but I don't like the pedal assist on it. 43kph. I'm just going by the numbers written on them.

I think Fiido is doing "the best they are able while covering their (own) 'butts'". Not to make excuses for them, just an observation. I think it is a lot of 'bike' for the money (I personally chose it over my initial interest for the Radrunner)... and I think that's why despite the snafus shall we say, is why it's so popular, or at least has it's niche or 'cult' following.
