I am so very nostalgic about window air conditioners. My grandma, who babysat me when I was in grammar school, had a huge beige beast set low in a hole my grandpa cut especially for it. This was in Oklahoma, and if you can imagine the summers... I used to come in, hot from outside and lay in front of that giant beast of an air conditioner. I remember how it smelled, even 30 years later. It's funny what memories stick in your mind.

Panzanella is usually an Italian salad made with bread and tomatoes that I believe originated in Tuscany. However this salad was absolutely delicious! I had it last week.

FYI the plastic straps on the AC box can be removed without cutting them . Just find the joint and flip it over and pull on the tab and it will peel it back no cutting needed .

We will, it is just hard because when we started it it was cooler and the slower season. Right now it is very hot and there are a lot of people there so it is harder to show off the areas correctly.

The salad was amazing. I didn't put the mint in mine though cuz I'm not a minty type person. I made the steak dish today also. That one was amazing too! My two fave dishes from hello fresh so far.

Hey Tim and Jen! We're coming back to Florida in August for 2 weeks this will be our 6th time. We're only gonna do a day each at the theme parks this time. Can you guys recommend some fun things to do in Florida besides the parks? Like beaches or fun places? We've been to NASA twice so don't think we need to go again. Thanks guys!

We love Anna Maria Island out on the gulf coast, some of the natural springs are great too, maybe an airboat ride, a trip to the museum (there are a bunch around town), a trip to the zoo. There is so much to do! I would suggest starting with this website www.visitorlando.com/things-to-do/ and picking out a few things that sound like fun for your family. :-)

amazon has pretty good customer service, so if you hit them up about the AC problem, they'll probably give you a gift card credit to make up for it (rather than having to replace it and be without an AC)

Wow Tim is fast at putting air conditioners in lol Is it screwed into the window sill? Do you plan to go back to the Orlando wheel at any point, when i was there, there were lots of shops being developed and i wondered how different it is almost a year on?

I'm not sure, but I would think it would be pretty soon. We have been listening to see when team member preview will be for it, and as soon as the team members ride it then we get really excited for soft openings.

Is central air not common in Florida? Crazy to me to think that everyone uses window units in one of the hottest parts of North America. I live in central Canada where we only need AC five months a year. You'd be hard pressed to find a window AC unit here.

I would even say we need it about 3 months a year (Quebec). We started using it in June and usually by mid/September we close it. We have an old window one since there's really no need to invest in a central one.

Their house was built before modern air conditioning was widely available and it doesn't have a ducted central heating system like most of ours do up north, so it's more of a major undertaking to retrofit.

Central air is very common in Florida, but our house was built in the 1920s before AC was standard in new houses. There isn't enough room in between the first and second floor for central AC so we need to come up with alternatives. In recent years a new product has become popular called the Mini Split AC. I think this is what we are going to have installed downstairs.
