This is my take on installing the Yakry RV Backup camera to my trailer that was factory wires for a competitors backup camera. It was easy and fast. I'm very impressed with the picture quality and value.
Thank you so much for this video. It was very helpful. One point though..... you mentioned difficulty pairing second camera. I did the second camera something like the first. That is I used a 12 volt power unit from some device I had lying around. Then I followed the pairing instructions on the RU-vid video they sited. Basically I powered up the video screen. The I pushed the okay button. This put it in pairing mode with a countdown. While in countdown mode I plugged in the new camera. VOILA
We had purchased the Y28 with the two cameras. We were a little apprehensive about switching our existing system over but after watching your video, we bit the bullet and wow what a difference. It was easy to install, the pictures are really crisp and clear. Thanks for posting the how to install.
I just received mine today and was very impressed with the bench test. A rocking picture and both cameras work great. Thank you for the walk through - I am going out tomorrow to replace my Furrion which runs like crap. Water must have gotten into the sensor as is a sad sad picture. Thank s again, great video.
Another point. I had trouble going from camera 1 to camera 2. It kept going from one camera to split screen. I couldn't isolate the two cameras. Then I shut off camera 3 and 4. Then I could go from camera 1 to split screen to camera 2.
Just so you're aware. You took the pre installed bracket off incorrectly. There didn't need to be any modifications. The part that you took off, there is a plate held on by 4 screws that matches the adapter plate included with the camera. You use the one from the camera and discard the furrion plate.
I was able to use the Furion bracket to fix the backup camera. I also bought a second camera. In order to link them via wifi. You need to get them all very close to the monitor to pair them. This second wifi camera will monitor my property entrance close to the main road. The wifi connexion should be OK as it will be fairly close to my trailer. Will use the monitor inside my RV and I will be able to monitor both cameras all day long. Great product.
Tks for the educational video, it helped a lot. I just finished installing mine on a Coleman Light 1805RB 2022 model. It works great, and the image is cristal clear. Just plug in the screen receptor into the lighter plug in on the F150 and instantly the image appear. Great product!
Hi maybe you can help. I recently bought an additional camera and I’m have a hard time getting it paired. Is there a certain camera you need to buy or will any Yakry camera work.
My manual says that the camera isn't free, but 50% off the regular price. But I only paid $93 ($47 off the regular price) for the kit and the extra camera is only $23 at half price. Also, I would have made a bracket that screws onto the bottom of the RV rather than what you did.
Maybe they have changed the policy on the free camera. It's coming up on two years since I put this video out. Hope it works good for you. Mine is still working as good as day one.
I just returned home from a month out in my trailer. I still love it and it's working perfectly. I can turn it on for changing lanes in addition to backing up. A friend I was traveling with got a camera for his Garmin and he's not as happy because it will only stay on about 10 seconds if he is not moving in reverse so it's not good when he is in traffic and wants to change lanes. I hope this helps.
The video is very smooth but I'm not sure about lag time as I would have to be able to see with my own eyes and the camera at the same time. That is a good question though. I wonder how it could be tested?
Lag time really isn't the issue I think. The camera I have now isn't smooth. It pauses briefly frequently. I don't care for that. That's what I want to avoid.
Chris I sure was hoping to see you hook up the camera to the monitor without connecting the wires to the tail lights. I'm looking for a security camera to use when I'm out camping using a battery and inverter inside my tent to see what's lurking around my camp site at night. Can you please let me know what accessories are included with this device to hook up without tail lights being involved.
Hi Stacey, I think if you have a inverter or 12 volt battery it would be a simple setup kind of like I did when I first tested the unit before I installed to the trailer. Just run two wires (Positive and negative) to the camera from the 12 volt source. On the monitor end you can either use a 120 volt (Your inverter) to 12 volt transformer like I did in the video or you can get a Cigarette Lighter Extension Cord with alligator clips to attach to the battery to give you the plug you would find in your truck. I hope this helps.
@@TrailAngelRock Chris the unit itself has the cables or the wiring included for doing the test without connecting the camera to the tail lights correct because I saw a video where the wires were in the package?
@@stacey1139 The wires are in the package, but that power supply I showed in the video was something I had already. It's just a standard 120V to 12V power supply like this: www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZZ9SBWL/ref=sspa_dk_detail_5?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B0BZZ9SBWL&pd_rd_w=Axlg2&content-id=amzn1.sym.0d1092dc-81bb-493f-8769-d5c802257e94&pf_rd_p=0d1092dc-81bb-493f-8769-d5c802257e94&pf_rd_r=08Q8Y88MCA30CK1ZEKSB&pd_rd_wg=XE5KD&pd_rd_r=9222ffc8-134f-4a5b-8bd8-a98f9cc4efc0&s=industrial&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWwy
There is no battery, it's wired directly in to the trailer lights. So as long as you are connected to the tow vehicle and you have your lights on, the camera is powered up.
This was a couple years ago, so my memory really isn't that good of why I did something a particular way. The video was more to show that the Yakry camera is a good, less expensive alternative to more expensive cameras.
@@TrailAngelRock ok the title of the video is "installing the..." not how good is the quality. I was looking for installation videos I found some that answered my questions already, but I noticed you made the installation quite a bit harder than it needed to be if you would have used the bracket you held in your hand at the 1:10 mark in the video.
The cord for the camera was just put back in the rear wall of the trailer. The cord for the video screen is a little in the way as I only have one location on my dash to plug it in.
I was emailing them at yakry-service@outlook.com . They also have a store on Amazon you could probably contact them. www.amazon.com/stores/Yakry/page/3BC310D3-D559-4109-B4C8-6085828DFE8D?ref_=ast_bln
Hi, I know you made this a while ago and I hope you see this. If you still have the product manual, can you let me know the website, email, or phone number for contacting the company? I lost my manual and am trying to troubleshoot an issue (hardwired in, but display says no signal. It was working fine about 8 weeks ago.). I can't find any customer service information for them online, or on Amazon, and I've been looking for almost an hour and a half . THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I'm sure I have the manual some place but I was emailing them with this address: yakry-service@outlook.com If that doesn't work let me know and I'll see if I can find my manual. Chris
All you needed to do was to remove the plastic panel from the furrion baseplate and just use the adapter to install the camera, not the entire receiver. You removed the wrong screws, you should have removed the four small plastic screws instead. Two minute job…🤡😂
