am done about 50.000 miles on mine 1L TURBO 0.6 bar of boost and i send it hard ... and the plates in the uk for lowering compression so its not 2 gaskits ontop of them selfs and to go all out ringed headgaskit and ringed head
From what I know, it's an old-school way of slightly lowering compression in order to run boost more safely. The head was actually in very good condition, and I could've gotten away without skimming it. At least that's what the guy from the machine shop said.
How are the 2 head gaskets holding up? I’m doing the head gasket on a Corsa D 1.0 and had to have 20 thou skimmed so I’m considering 2 gaskets to make up for it ☺️
Wish I could tell you, but I have yet to get the car running, let alone drive it, unfortunately.🤣 The gaskets I used were 1.28mm each, can't really give you advice as I'm no expert, I'd say ask a mechanic who knows. Good luck👍
@@the_mintiest_micra cheers for responding. ✌️. I’ve got 2 mechanic friends suggesting the same thing which is to use play-doh/plastercine to check valve clearance so I’ll try that. The Haynes manual says to get a new head on this engine if it’s warped, but I’ve come this far so I shall continue 🤣.
I drive a Nissan Almera Classic with the QG16DE, I forgot to put the radiator cap back on which led to alot of coolant loss which caused overheating and that led to a blown head gasket, I am gonna replace the head gasket tomorrow and I just wanna know if I can still drive it as hard as I used to before? The car was driven for 78k miles, will the car be the same as before blowing the original head gasket ? Will I be able to push the car to its limits after the head gasket replacement just like I used to before or not?
Well I'm not a mechanic or an expert but from what I know, if you carry out the correct procedure for replacing the head gasket and then do the correct heat cycle procedure for a new head gasket and drive more gently for the first few days, the engine should end up just as before and be just as reliable unless other parts have been damaged when overheating.
@the_mintiest_micra thanks brother, today I took the car out of the mechanic, the head gasket was successfully replaced and there are no leaks or anything, I took the car for a test drive and everything is just like it was before blowing the head gasket, the engine idles perfectly too, I guess it was a successful head gasket replacement.
Its a CG10DE, they handle boost better than the 1.3l and 1.4l right? 10psi is mad, fair play, I just thought to go the exptra step just in case, I know its not necessary.
@@the_mintiest_micra Yea apparently the 1.0 has stronger ring lands it's the gizfab supercharger kit he states its 6psi on the 1.3 so my assumption is its putting in that amount of air into a smaller engine therefore more pressure..i could be wrong. maths I guess I'm running ga16 injectors Det3 in fuel implant 1.3 cams full sportex exhaust with both cats Ratearded timing by the distributer (I haven't set up timing control on the det3) Pulls well and goes ballistic 4k-7300 rpm Need to get it set up on a dyno and seee what it's running at some point With 2 gaskets won't it slightly adjust cam timing?
@@richarddennington I don't think the two gaskets will affect the timing, the chain is just slightly more tense but the valves open at the same time as before.
