Wow Danie, absolutely superb work. It's awesome to see the side profile of the motorhome complete 😎 as always I thoroughly enjoy watching your build episodes. Thank you for sharing 👍🏽
It's always interesting seeing how perfectly normal is, bringing to the road certainly vehicles in the USA that you would be arrested if you did the same in Europe.
Hi Danie, Great work as always but one concern over the large compartment door. I could see an issue with to much weight being placed on it while being stationary in the down position as those piano hinges could rip right out of the lower square tube mount. Most motorhomes and RV's if not all here in north America have compartment doors that hinge up just for that reason. I like how you repurposed the Truck door handle and lock mechanism and having one less key to worry about. Excellent work as always. Thanks Mike
Thanks Mike. Funny you should mention it but I was wondering the same thing about the doors. I'm considering the idea of installing some kind of "guid pin" to help alleviate tension on the hinges
The only reason I can see for using piano hinges is possible rust problems in the future. Or are they stainless steel? As usual very impressed with your build. 👍😁👍
This is really impressive, I was wondering, I see a lot of overlanders and expedition vehicles with zero torsion sub-frames or those opposing spring mounts. what in your view is the maximum allowable irregularity in the road that means you're ok with your (very clever) rubber mount system? I'm looking into doing my own motorhome and I don't want to take it off road, but dirt and gravel roads might be a possibility and I'm wondering if something like your system would be sufficient for that level of relatively minor shake and chassis twist. Can't wait to see the rest of the build!
Honestly it's a bit of a thumb suck to determine what will be enough flex but I've based the rubber design on existing full cab Ivecos. I'm also not planning on doing any off road driving. Gravel roads at most
Its looking really nice now. But, shouldnt you be doing the interior before you left with a small door to fit everything through? Or can one of the sides slide out and be taken off?
That must be the most un-homemade camper I’ve ever seen. It looks more like a high end factory unit. Could you at least make it look like it was difficult to build? as you seem to tackle everything it throws at you with ease, except maybe that steering linkage😂😂 Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺
Could not pick up if there is insulation between the stainless steel and the aluminium. They do have a chemical reaction when touching. Just a heads up.
