Its a shame they are not as popular as they should be. Only in the future when these types of cars are no longer produced will they become more desirable.

I own a top spec BRZ in Canada. Almost identical to US models. The BRZ doesn’t get the duck tail at all. I honestly have to say, that was a selling point for me. I do appreciate that everyone has their own opinions, like it’s genuinely interesting to see just how different peoples opinions really are, but I honestly think the profile of this car is more classic, old school, attractive RWD sports coupe without it. I prefer mine without a spoiler and love it as is. But to each their own. I also prefer the gunmetal wheels to the gloss black, but I do prefer the front grille design and gloss-black mirror caps of the 86.

good daily: yes First car if you are used to driving. If its first first car get some really cheap car so you dont make any stupid mistakes in a more expensive car like this.

Ironically I've ordered the GR86 and I mostly like it better than the BRZ, but I have to say I like the BRZ front better from the looks. I haven't seen the car in real life, maybe it's gonna look better than in videos/photos. Seems to be also dependent on the angle of camera as far as I've seen.

So interesting. I've just never grown to like the BRZ face, but a lot of people do like it more than the GR86.

@@ProductReviewCars The preference for the GR86 over the BRZ is based on the preference for the Toyota brand by people who like sports cars and Toyota marketing. Toyota is making the GR86 available to reviewers worldwide who like what they see and are happy to give the preference to the manufacturer who gave them a car for the day. The BRZ is better tuned for driving while the GR86 is better for sliding. The BRZ is supported by dealerships that sell other vehicles with Subaru engines. In the US, the BRZ comes with things the GR86 does not (jack and floor mats). Plus subjectively, the BRZ has a better looking optional blue color, has the better looking red trim, has the better looking front end, and has the better looking wheel choices. In the US the BRZ is sold by dealers that typically sell at MSRP and the GR86 is sold by dealers that are happy to mark up the car by thousands.

You're right. In real life, the BRZ front face looks way better than in photos. It has certain angles on the front face you just can't see on camera. I think the GR86 front face is boring. Both cars whole body look kinda kinda bad from a front diagonal view. All other angles are good.

I’ve got a BRZ, they’re so low to the ground you never see the front grille, the both look fine anyway! In the metal they are gorgeous cars with lots of subtle curves and lines, they are like jewels. Very happy to own and great to drive.

Such a shame it doesn’t have inbuilt Sat navigation. Just traded my 2017 Toyota 86 for a new 2024 GR GTS86 only to discover apple car play with no in built gps which my previous car had. Guess what Toyota Engineers……when your out of phone range your phone navigation doesn’t work……and where I drive in Western Australia that is very frequent for me. Even my neighbours new base model suzuki swift has in built GPS. This is crazy for a car that cost me in excess of $50k Aussie dollars. So yes it’s a great car……but for me it’s let down by the lack of such a basic feature like in built Sat nav.

What are the maintenance measures that should be taken to avoid oil starvation for someone that is using the gr86 as a daily driver, not track use?
@J_S209
@J_S209 4 месяца назад
You won’t have an oil starvation problem. If you take any standard road car on a track you will have oil problems.

Do toyota still make these exact ones, I know you can build them on the website but can you actually buy it brand new in this way. I am close to getting one and I'd like a white one with the red interior literally the same as this. Any advice?

It’s not a crappy engine it’s a great naturally aspirated engine. The ppl that keep saying it’s crappy most likely don’t even own a gr86 or havent driven one. The 2.4L produces power and torque in all the right places and with the combination of the lightness of the chassis it’s a blast to drive. Yeah it has oil starvation issues but that can be easily corrected with constant maintenance especially for those who push their cars on tracks consistently. But for the average joe that won’t be a problem. There have been plenty of ppl who track their gr86 all the time and haven’t had issues.
