Hey Luke, thanks for teaching Ellen how to play and enjoy all these great games! Glad to see someone enjoying monster hunter, either for the first time or very early. Pro tip: blunt weapons (hammer, hunting horn) should go for the head, for k.o. while bladed weapons(all other melee) should go for the tail, to cut it off. Small nitpick: all rathians are female, the male version is red.

Someone may have already mentioned this but, the poison comes from the tail on a Rathian(green) and the claws on a Rathalos(red). You can cut off a Rathian's tail to prevent it from poisoning you.

I loved watching this, fond memories of learning the Rathian in MH3U! It’s fiddly and weirdly complex, but there is some great fun to be had doing what you guys are (exploring and discovering how the monster works)

Every time she said dog I kept hearing Dob. "Dob, don't do that." Yep, sounds about right.

Rathian and Rathalos have venomous claws not bites. you can disable is by cutting off its tail where it stores the venom.

Hi Oxtra, your friendly neighbourhood viewer here. I heard the question where the poison comes from. Rathians can get poison you with its claws, but it's usually the tail that gets you. Chop it off with a sharp weapon and you'll notice a dramatic decrease in purple bubbles!

Luke did a little bit of World, but at least on the channel he didn't get very far. I hope they do more Monster Hunter. It's my favorite games series of all time. Plus Luke never got to experience the pain of Furious Rajang, Raging Brachydios, or Fatalis.

Wow! Glad to see you guys giving it a go! Hopefully when it comes out we'll see both of you playing together! (Maybe test the new training hall too?) Also Ellen did you know you can pat and play with both the palico and palamute? By pressing the left D Pad left and right you can select the stop icon by pressing up on the same pad, then you can interact with the partners with the Y, X & A button! Then you press the left one again to get them to move. Also the arrow isn't that useful, so you can turn it off in the options menu. It's worth playing around with them, especially to zoom the camera out a bit. If you're ever stuck with weapon, check the hunter's notes in the menu. It'll give you the basics of every weapons and how to play in general, though once the full game is out hopefully the new training room will be amazing for you to try out! Anyway, Happy hunting!

I love any and all monster hunter game so watching Ellen and Luke try and have fun experiencing one is always a joy.

I truly an honestly admire the effort. As a Monster Hunter stan I fully understand the effort and energy it takes to be a rookie in this game and I love y'all for giving the game some exposure.

Luke on the Hunting Horn and Ellen on Longsword makes sense. I wonder what weapons the others would have the best affinity with. Jane would probably click with the Heavy Bowgun, Andy maybe the Insect Glaive and Mike I'd say the Hammer or Sword and Shield(for quick item use...bombs).

It's so damn hard to remember to use the d-pad to change items when you're a veteran MH player, since on the PSP it was used to control the camera manually, I kinda envy new MH players on that front. Loved you guys playing this, I had a feeling Luke would go for the hunting horn, reminded me of Dob so much. This game looks awesome.

This is definitely not a game that you can just pick and play well... There are quite a few mechanics to figure out. But the commentary from Ellen and Luke make it so much fun to watch !! :D

I wish they would make a "Monster Hunter Snap" game. All of the mechanics of finding out about the monsters, tracking them, stalking them, and getting close. But instead of hunting them to kill, you are "armed" only with a camera and your goal is to get amazing wildlife photos. . I have no desire to play these games, because I have no desire to hunt and kill the amazing creatures in them.😅

Intire video im yelling at Luke to attack the head to stager it and Ellen to attack the tail to slice off the stinger.. That and they are burning thier hunt time on an extra, weaker monster.

It's very hard to see you as anything other than the villains in that story. You attacked badgers for fun, dragon tries to protect the badgers, you chase the dragon after it clearly had enough and just wants to live his life, you kill the dragon, you drop one of his egg, then steal two. That is quite a productive half-hour...
