I’m making a different recipe, pretty much chicken legs, rice, cream of mushroom, cream of chicken and extra mushrooms, but I had no idea how to cook it in an instant pot, I’ve always made it on the stove top. This was SO helpful thanks so much!
Gee, I love my instant pot, (I’m a novice )that it’s giving me the urge to buy a bigger freezer, with all the lovely fresh veggies that are in season now etc etc, bulk buy, bulk cook for the dark and dreary evenings ahead, thank you for sharing your lovely recipes
Just made this. I'm using the power xl and it doesn't have the saute button so I used the risotto button (first time making risotto) to saute. I added cream of mushroom cause I don't have mushrooms. I seasoned my chicken and cut it up. Well...Ma'am...it is DELISH! Thank you so very much. This is the 2nd time using this. I have to get use to my meat cooking so quickly. I like well done so I am checking to see if it is cooked all the Way through👀👀😂😂🤗🤗!!! It is. It was done in a little over 1 minute. Lol That's quick! I'm Eating Ya'll in my Loud Country Voice!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Arborio rice is like making risotto. You have to add a little olive oil to your butter when you sauté the rice. Usually risotto takes liquid all through cooking time. I recommend cooking until almost done before adding chicken. Make sure your chicken is thawed out also. Hers was still raw!
Making it tonight! I'm not adding the mushrooms or kale (hubby won't eat them, but I wish I could add them for myself) but we just had a discussion on what to have for supper. We have frozen chicken and everything else needed. Thank you so much!
I have a hubby and grown Son who will not eat the good stuff!! Hubby will eat the mushrooms but not the kale. Son eats meat and cheese, potatoes and rice. That’s about it…I’m considering putting him back on baby food ( he is 38 and lives with us because of health reasons) . I love him but when it comes to food, I want to shake him and the Hubby too!!! 😮 but I haven’t… so far…lol anyway, I’m going to be selfish and make it exactly as shown here. If they don’t like it, there is bread, cheese and bologna to go along with a side of boring!!🥱 oh well, I’m going to be eaten good y’all 😂
I was planning to use a freezer meal for dinner tonight, but I saw this video and decided to make this instead, as it looks so simple and I have all the ingredients in hand!
We followed your instructions exactly with one exception, we used thawed chicken and had two issues. After all was added to the pot and we set the time for 10 minutes while coming up to pressure I got a screen message saying (burn) and then finally counted down to the 10 minutes. After waiting another 5 minutes and opening the pot the entire recipe was like paste. I added more broth but it wasn't much help. Do you think we should have used frozen chicken.
The burn notice with rice seems to be happening a lot over many Instapot youtube channels. And the question isn't getting answered. That is why I am here trying to find a fix. If not the pot goes back. Maybe I should have got a Ninja, pity.
My guess is the liquid evaporated from the sautéing and the chicken unfrozen cooked in less than her ten minutes that is why the burn message and the mush. My suggestion is if you get that message, do a quick release and check inside the pot. Check for doneness of the chicken and condition of the rice and if the food needs more cooking time, add 1/2 cup of water and seal again, choosing less than 10 minutes according to how done (or not) the food is. You can even bring it up to pressure with 0 minutes and let it do a natural release if it is more than half done. The rice and veg are almost all cooked if you sautéd it all first like she did, and the liquid is almost all absorbed by the rice so it burned rather than building steam pressure. The chicken cooked a lot faster cuz it wasn’t frozen. Just some ideas. Suggestion: if you use Un-frozen chicken you can sauté a little less time, and make sure there is still at least 1/3 to a half cup liquid in the pot when you seal it- then cook maybe only 5-7 minutes and then follow her natural release, etc.
@@karenbellessapeterse thank you for your response! I asked because I was considering getting a bigger slow cooker however now I may go a different route! Thanks!
Love your channel! I just made this for my family and for some reason my chicken was not cooked all the way after following your directions to the T...so I just popped the thighs in the microwave and then back in the rice and we loved it! But forgot the cheese! Lol! Wondering why my chicken wasn’t done all the way tho...any ideas? Thanks!
@Dawnalene, at around 3:40 she mentioned that the chicken thighs she buys from Costco are “VERY flat, so they actually cook pretty quickly”... more than likely your chicken wasn’t as “flat” as the pieces she cooked.
Looks great! Just wondering how to make this, but adding chicken I already have cooked on hand. Would timing be different? I was planning to add chicken at the end and stir it in.
Love love mushrooms & kale too ❣️ Don't have any on hand, so I'm going for it with what I've got; frozen chicken breasts, Jasmin rice, and frozen broccoli partially steamed, stirred in at the end 😂 wish me luck... I'll try to remember to report back on how it went
@@osakarose5612 Rice was a bit mushy for husband's liking; overall flavor was very good though. I do like the simplicity of doing chicken from frozen in the IP.
Congratulations on 110k subscribers. I just received my I-P late yesterday. Looking forward to learning to use it. My next purchase will be your cookbook. Your getting started four beginners free pdf was very helpful. Thanks again.
First time watchers your show, I really liked the recipe not a kale fan so I'm going to use spinach or escarole. Thank you for a great recipe. Happy Blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family.🌈❤😊🥰🙏
I love this dish, but no matter how much I deglaze the pot after sautéing the chicken, I get the “food burn” notice. I follow the directions to a “T” and I still get food burn. Help!
WOW! Watching this was hipotizing. The visuals, voice, bouncy hair, the how clean the kitchen is. Thanks I was able to take away some pointers and use this int tonights dinner
I have cooked this recipe or made an attempt to cook this recipe four times every single time no matter what I try it burns and gives me the burn notice
I always like to over season in slow cooker or Instant Pot recipes because there is no evaporation and reduction that occurs. I find that doing both really bumps the flavor!
Was disappointed to find out this was Cheesy Chicken and Rice (the title did not say cheesy). I'm looking for recipes that do not have a ton of cheese in them. Very difficult to find. I do enjoy your videos though.
Christopher from 6 sisters told me to come down to your website and check you out I'm a single male who bought an instant pot pro crisp and air fryer so January firso January 1st is my resolution to make healthy and healing meals for God's temple so God-bless you all who own instant pots God-bless the instant pot company and company in God-bless Amazon organization and the staff who provided always great service for me and delivering my instant pot pro crisp and air fryer Let's spread the love and enjoy the taste of healthy food.
It always blows me away when I see people put multiple frozen chicken breasts in an instant pot and then claim they’re completely done after just 10 minutes. I have the exact same instant pot, use the exact same chicken breasts from Costco, and I have to cook just one breast for 22 minutes for it to be fully cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
@@osakarose5612 … It can sometimes be like rubber, but less time than that often yields an internal temperature that indicates it is under done. Cutting it in half also reveals a small but uncooked center.
There must be a big difference between cooking frozen chicken thighs in the instant pot and cooking frozen chicken breasts. Because I can’t get away with anything less than 20 minutes on the chicken breasts, or they’re not cooked through.
@@osakarose5612 no they aren’t. The sliced mushrooms I see do not say pre washed. And when I run them under plain water, you see the dirt in the water. Rub your finger on the outside of the mushroom slices while in a bowl of water and the color gets whiter. Baby Bella’s get a lighter brown too as the outside dirt gets washed off. This is the case for pre sliced and whole mushrooms. White and baby Bella’s. I’m going off of experience, not a label.
